A.V. some sources mention an optional AIP propulsion, this video says nothing about it, do you have any infos?
Are the first Lada subs for the Russian navy operational?

I am really horrified at the way Indian govt. has allowed the IN submarine fleet to languish. It's high time we bypass another "local manufacture" episode and order 6-8 modern submarines right away. The chinese submarine threat is going to be too big to ignore. Exercising the options for 8 more P-8I's is also imperative.

LADA is supposed to be the stealthiest (read silent) ssk in the world...but i dont know whether it is in serial production or, not.
imo in addition to scorpions IN needs additional 12 SSks. the best option would be to get 6 U-214 and wait till LADA goes into serial production...

its better to utilise the domestic facilities for SSNs and SSBNs. Rest we can always get built from others.

Have some doubts about that, especially if they don't have AIP propulsion, also the specs that are available don't looks very impressive. The only reason that makes it preferable, is the point of integrating Brahoms launcher in it, but the pure sub performance seems to be inferior to U214.

As far as brahmos integration goes, the germans are more than happy to do the needful (brhamos officials had meetings with them during defexpo it would seem).

I am be more interested in miniaturized low power nuclear reactors forming a part of hybrid russian electric submarines. They seem to provide the necessary capability (similar to if not better than AIP) and provide unlimited endurance as well! But to be honest, U-214's, S-80 or a home grown sub design with fuel cell based AIP and VLS should do!
