US helped China but for strategic and political reasons, as with any other nations. So helping to gain benefits, yes I would agree. But China helped them too. Compare to what the average low income family in the west can buy today vs a middle income class family from 30 years ago is just unbelievable.

Aye. Actually I partially agree with the author. The UofS only became `imperialistic' after becoming a superpower while the good old European `powers' were the other way round.

Also the geographic isolation, puritan ideology and free market gave the US a longer adolescence, or... being a little more zealous/naive/simple in comparison to European cut-throats.

Yep, Every country has their own domestic political calculations.As Churchill said :A country dose not have permanent friends, only permanent interests. USA - China is a lot of differences but it does not prevent cooperation for the two counties. Becuase their shared profits are growing more .

No , Not China hate USA but USA govt hates China for it's system .And including you, Right ? hehehe.... .Chinese people chose to that one and so far it works well .Though we Chinese politically do something compare to USA is not very free , our whole society have already reached a consensus that realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We Chinese have always thought that we gave up a little freedom of our own for the entire target is worth ,for we know as long as Chinese go on working hard , we will have as well as whatever USA has now and has no someting in the next 40-50 years.

There are some hidden histories that was little noticed by the public or deliberately ignored by some pro-west historians, notebly the mainstream in PRC.

One is the US had been basically economically an ally to Japan in the WWII especially during Japan's venture in China (where in China this is called anti-Japan war). The US had provided all strategic resources exclusively to imperial Japan to faciliate its wars against China and other mainland Asia(until the pacific war broke out, just to know how the Americans frustrated). While on the other hand China was in someway embargoed to get those needed goods. The balance of Asia game started much eariler than you might think.

We need to think about how the history developed, not just being told by someone on the board.
