Another 'witness' alleges Big B-role in 1984 riots
Yudhvir Rana, TNN | Dec 15, 2011,

AMRITSAR: Another "witness" has come forward alleging that Amitabh Bachchan did instigate the rioters in 1984.

California-based 52-year-old Manjit Singh Saini has alleged that he had himself seen Bachchan shouting anti-Sikh slogans while pointing towards a Sikh in a crowd at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on October 31, 1984.

Earlier, Jagdish Kaur, prime witness of 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Babu Singh Dukhiya, had approached Akal Takht, alleging that they had seen Bachchan shouting the slogan "khoon ka badla khoon sae laengae" live on Doordarshan.

Bachchan on December 1 had sent a sealed letter to jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh, pleading innocence over allegations of prompting violence against Sikhs, through SGPC member Gurinder Singh Bawa who had delivered the letter to the jathedar through a relative, Satnam Singh.

All India Sikh Students Federation (Peermohammad) president Karnail Singh Peermohammad told TOI on Wednesday that Manjit Singh Saini has come forward giving first hand account of alleged hate slogans raised by Bachchan.

He said Saini, originally a resident of Kalu Sarai, Delhi, had approached Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor, Sikhs For Justice organization, claiming that he was present in front of AIIMS in Delhi on October 31, 1984 when Bachchan allegedly shouted hate slogans.

Pannun in an e-mail message informed that Saini had decided to break his silence after Bachchan approached Akal Takht pleading innocence. He said Saini had earlier given a statement regarding Bachchan's role in instigating killing of Sikhs in 1985 to the then senior officer of Delhi police, Ved Marwah, who was investigating the November 1984 killing of Sikhs.

Pannun said Saini had also blamed Marwah for inaction as, despite his written statement regarding Bachchan inciting violence against Sikhs, no action was taken against him by Delhi police.

Following his statement to Delhi police, Saini was forced to move from place to place while his house in Kalu Sarai continues to be under illegal occupation since November 1984, said Pannun.

Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh, was not available for comment. However, his personal assistant Jaswinderpal Singh said they had not received any such complaint from Saini. However, he said the issue would be discussed in the meeting of Sikh clergy on December 22.

That is weird.. Has Amitabh not played the roles of a Sikh many a times?
I dont take him to be a communally motivated person.

He was a very close childhood friend of Rajiv Gandhi and like a member of Gandhi family.
Might have gone emotional after the murder of IG by her sikhbody guards and have said something Bad.
But he wasn't involved in the riots that killed many sikhs.

BTW after death of Rajiv Gandhi ,his familiy have parted away from the gandhis.

Politics, emotions - a lot of motivations are at work. Varun Gandhi made an infamous vitriolic speech during the last elections in UP, targetting the Sikh and Muslim communities. His mother is a Sikh too. In fact his mama ran against him in those elections.
