Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, a publisher from Pakistan who was previously reported to participate in the upcoming 45th New Delhi World Book Fair 2018 to be held from Saturday, January 6 to next Sunday, January 14 has boycotted the event, reported Express News.

The fair, organised by the National Book Trust (NBT) in association with the ITPO, would be held at the Pragati Maidan.

It was earlier reported that just one Pakistani publisher would be participating in 2018 and only one stall has been taken up. The organisers were hopeful it would bring cheer among readers.

Where is Pakistan?

“There is a good demand of books from Pakistan. Readers have always liked and appreciated their writing. So this year, the publisher has returned. May be just one but hopeful that this will be a good indication,” NBT Director Rita Chaudhary told IANS.

More than 35 countries will be participating at this year’s book fair.

Last year as well, only one distributor from Pakistan had participated in the book fair.

good decision please dont come, theres nothing good that pakistan can contribute. We dont need textbooks filled with hatred.

.
Good. Now modi will be so scared that he'll kill himself and then gift us Kashmir. Checkmate liberals.

.
Wrong decisions, we must not let go any chance of being in India, it quite entertaining to see saffron chadies burning because of our presence.

Art, Music and Literatures should not be bounded.
Not sure how big Pakistan Publishing industry is at large and what kind of content and section does it serves.
I am still sure that there might be few pockets in India who would love to read in given section. None the less doing a book show in other country is not an easy task. Unless there are business benefits, publishers will not invest in such fairs. Also at times the not all publishers have big pockets. So if Pakistani publishers are missing, probably it could be also because it doesnt make economic sense to them.

Packaging everything into security concerns is kind of false propaganda.

Not like pakistan has a developed book industry anyways.

Good, it is not a safe place to travel and all ties to such a hostile country should set on pause.

Do you still read real books in 2018?? Its like using clay tablets, and riding a dinosaur. I suggest an upgrade to 21st century.
