Then I don't think you are being objective. Overall the US is in a lot better shape than other countries, maybe not compared to Germany but definitely compared to China. Chinese rural areas are very run down and unsanitary and so are many parts of China's cities as well because China's vast rural population is still very poor, uneducated and practice horrible sanitation habits. China is like three different countries, you can't look at Shanghai and think that's China's standard.

i've only been to beijing and shenzhen. it's much more modern then all the US cities i've been to.

There is a huge gap between China's cities and its countryside. There is a huge gap between China's upper middle class and the rural poor. China's upper middle class live in first world conditions, they travel abroad, have their kids tutored in English, buy luxury goods. China's rural class have only recently just had indoor plumbing.
