Americans try Arab (mostly Saudi Arabian) cuisine

I've had the Chicken roast and grapes leaves, haven't tried the other stuff yet. A local Egyptian family Greek store has some of this stuff (foul and falafel). The chicken roast was good, the dolma/grape leaves not so much.
I personally stopped eating too much meat. It's unhealthy to each too much red meat.
Thankfully, lamb is not red meat, so if you don't mind I'll eat your share...

Nah i don't like sea food tbh and yea i prefer chicken over meat (which still isn't very healthy imo) and yes me too i eat yogurt a lot too :lol:

Don't worry, I'll remain an omnivore to eat the surplus meat. *Ovo-lacto-vegetarian with seafood, if you want to be exact.

Interesting combination... certainly not one I would expect.
Practically every Greek restaurant I've been to was owned by a Egyptian, Turk, and something else, and the rare Greek. Almost, no, all of them had Egyptian pictures and stuff on the inside. Not sure why.

Are other very popular fish.

First I need to know where you live in KSA and whether you have access to fish markets close by. I am not from Riyadh nor do I live there but I know that there is a fish market in Riyadh and probably more than just 1. If you live anywhere in Hijaz, Eastern Province or provinces that border either the Red Sea or Gulf all you have to do is to visit the many fish markets or harbors/ports where fishermen catch fish.


Camel milk is not really widely consumed by people in KSA. KSA's has the largest dairy factory in the world!




But camel milk is healthier than cow milk for sure. I like both but don't drink much milk any longer. I eat more yoghurt, cheeses etc.

except falafel and hummus (I dont like hummus) I never have eat arabic food..

In Arabic we call it ورق العنب . It is merely stuffed vegetables and we have our versions like any other Middle Eastern people. I am not a too big fan of it personally. Falafel and hummus are 0,1% of Arab cuisine. You need to try much more. Lebanese cuisine, with all due respect, is blend. Many more Arabic cuisines, including Saudi Arabia/Arabian have much more exotic ingredients and use more spices and herbs. It's just because Lebanese cuisine is more famous in Europe because of the large Lebanese/Lebanese Palestinian diaspora. In France other Arab cuisines, especially Maghrebi, is more popular and well-known. Don't get me wrong, Lebanese cuisine is nice and all but IMO there are better Arab cuisines.

BTW the falafel, shawarma and kebab that is sold in Europe (mainstream) is absolute trash and has nothing to do with the real deal back home. It's quite frankly a joke to compare them with each other!

It is consumed, don't get me wrong, but cow milk is more popular. Almarai in particular. I even believe that sheep milk is more popular than camel milk in KSA although camel milk, if I am not wrong, has grown in popularity in recent years as it has become more "hipster and cool" and people now know about its health benefits more. Anyway there are not too many wild camels left in KSA. That's why many are imported from Australia and Somalia (largest exporter and where most wild camels live in the world along with Australia) but in recent decades camel farms have appeared to help keep the wild population alive and to breed camels for meat, milk, wool etc. Camels are fantastically useful animals and quite an "invention" if you think about it. No wonder that they were more expensive than anything else in the ancient world. Sometimes more expensive than horses whether Arabian ones or other ones. Just their ability to transport tons of equipment and goods through long-distances, harsh geography and climate was priceless for millennia. No wonder that Bedouins feel a greet affinity to camels.

Speaking about camels, you should try camel meat. It's even better than camel milk IMO if prepared properly! Tasty as hell.

Indeed. In our Arab culture (mostly for Bedouins) camels play a role but our most revered land animal used for transportation is the horse, more specifically the world-famous Arabian horse. However both animals are blessed in the noble Qur'an and any person that knows history will testify to the importance of those two animals for the ancient world for millennia. In fact ever since we humans managed to domesticate both animals.

That second photo must be somewhere in Mongolia, China or Central Asia as those camels are bactrian camels. They are used to the very harsh winters and the snow. But even "our" camels can survive in cold weather and even snow without a problem. Cold temperatures are very common in KSA and deserts in general during the night and in particular the winter.

They can easily survive whenever it snows in KSA during the winter:

You are most likely a troll but whether they like it or not (they did like it) we can take comfort in the fact that Arab cuisine is very popular in many parts of the world and that it has influenced many cuisines throughout the ages not only in the Muslim world but well outside of it (Southern Europe, Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Horn of Africa, South East Asia etc.)

In the US alone there are several very popular Saudi Arabian restaurants.

The ability of a camel to survive in such harsh climates made it an excellent choice for nomads and caravans that went all the way from Asia to Europe

They are more common in central asia we also get a few imported bactrians from Afghanistan but they are just not made for our hot climate most camels here are variants of dromedaries

Its called the Indus Delta Camel locally knowns as Kharai camel and its native to the delta region SIndh and Gujrat region of Pakistan and India they are an endangered species due to destruction of mangrove forests and decreased water flow to the delta region
