According to authorities, Boyd began arguing with officers for more than three hours before the fatal shooting. Graphic video released by the department shows cops yelling at Boyd to "get on the ground" moments before he's shot.
"Don't change up the agreement, I'm going to try to walk with you," Boyd says in the video. The suspect then picks up his belongings as if ready to leave. As he starts to head down the hill, an officer can be heard saying "Do it," before Boyd is hit with a flash-bang device.
Visibly disoriented, Boyd drops his bags and appears to take out a knife. That's when two officers, Dominque Perez and Keith Sandy, fire multiple rounds into the man.
Boyd can be seen dropping to the ground, where he lays still. Officers yell at him to drop his knife repeatedly. When the suspect doesn't answer, police fire multiple bean-bag rounds at the man, then release a K-9 officer on him.
Blood can be seen splattered on rocks near Boyd's head. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a day later.

During Friday’s press conference, Chief Eden released video of the moment when officers first contacted Boyd. When one officer went to frisk Boyd, the homeless camper could then be heard refusing to comply, saying he was a government agent. The video shows Boyd continued to refuse officer commands and began threatening their lives.
“I’m almost going to kill you right now. Don’t give me another directive. Don’t attempt to give me, the Department of Defense, another directive,” said Boyd at the beginning of the incident.
As the hours passed, Chief Eden said an APD Crisis Intervention Team officer and a State Police liaison were called to the scene. Both attempted to speak with Boyd, however, Chief Eden says Boyd continued to threaten officers with death. Police also discovered that Boyd had a violent 20-year criminal history that included multiple incidents of violence against officers. Boyd’s history also showed years of mental health related concerns.

If someone was talking to you for three hours and had no hostages and was homeless, it requires a lot of stupidity on part of the authorities to use deadly force.

Pulling out the knife placed the officers in deadly danger of being assaulted with a deadly weapon, and they responded accordingly.

Stuff like this happens a lot in the US. Every week something just as messed up happens and it either involves the cops, or civilians shooting an innocent man/woman to death and using the "stand your ground" law to get out of it.
There was a famous incident a couple of months back where a girl in her early 20's had car issues and knocked on a guy's door to ask to use the phone. The owner of the house shot her to death.
Similar things happen weekly in the US. The gun culture and Wild West mentality they have down there is insane to say the least.
The Indian and Chinese posters here are most likely all educated and if they do want to come to the West for better lives, they have a right and ability to pick the best one. Criticizing the Wild West that is the US is part of the elimination process

Not all immigrants come to US and Canada on banana boats and later end up joining the military as a measure of last resort.
