Not sure which school you guys go to but errrr... No.

This is the chart to watch to see if US is decoupling from China.

US imports from China is at record high but as a percentage of China's GDP is trending downward to only 2.5%

What does that tell us ?

I think the bigger question is more fundamental:

US has always maintained that democracy + free market capitalism is the only system that can give long term prosperity. China may progress for a whiile but eventually there will come a dictator who will make a whole pigs breakfast out of the economy to consolidate power---and that prediction has come true under xi ping fatty

China can grow/ match US only if it becomes democratic, and that seems to have come true.

There is difference between trade volume and trade as percentage of GDP. The graph just shows that growth elsewhere that's contributing towards the Chinese GDP is outstripping its export to the US, while in the same period, the actual trade volume with the US is on a steady rise.
