While the DRDO puts its full weight behind priority delivery of the LCA Tejas to the Indian Air Force (IAF), its new Chief Dr Avinash Chander has made an ambitious claim: that the stealth fifth generation advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) will be delivered in 12-15 years. The AMCA, while not a formally sanctioned project yet, is still on the drawing board in the conceptual phase, and will receive formal funding only once deliveries begin of the FOC LCA Tejas Mk.1.

The DRDO is currently working on several enabling technologies, including stealth, vectored thrust nozzles, serpentine air intakes, internal weapons bays, advanced avionics, etc to form the foundations of the advanced aircraft. The aircraft will be larger and more powerful than the Indo-Russian PMF/FGFA, and will be a priority stealth strike platform for operations behind enemy air defences. Current research and development on the project is being funded through internal resources, and work will pick up in earnest from late 2014 when the burden of the LCA Tejas is off the DRDO’s shoulders. A degree of foreign consultancy will be inevitable on the AMCA, sources indicate.

So 2028 Officially and 2030- 2032 Un-official Many of of Dpk Users wont be there to see this

In 10 Years after PAKFA inducted in to IAF ,AMCA will enter. If amca is more powerfull than PakFa its a good thing for India and Our Super Power ambition !

I think DRDO will upgrade K10 engine. It wont be a hard task to ugrade a 90 KN engine. ANd powerfull does nt mean its engine power alone. It will be better 5th gen techn ology than Pak Fa as India will get its hand on PAKFA and Rafale ! Hopefully we will develop our AURA soon by 2016 which may have current Kaveri Engine . GTRE is now running two separate successor engine programmes, the K9+ programme and the K10 programme

New Pak-Fa engine will have a thrust of about 107 kN in cruise mode and 176 kN in full afterburner mode. We can expect more than this or atleast close to this. We have atleast 10-12 years to develop new engine for AMCA. K 10 will get a patner soon. even DRDO can come up with 90KN K10 in 3-6 years we still have 4-5 years to upgrade it. Its possible.Even am not sure. Am just telling what the calculation of DRDO's timeline. So 11 years to development and 4 years for Test Flight . Induction in 2028-2030

Indeed i agree with you.. Snecma is not providing any more help and we have are still looking for new partner. And as far as i have read it was mentioned in the report without any credible partner developing engine would take more than 20 years.

well,I think trolling on DRDO's achievements isn't a good thing..DRDO already built laser weapons platform and its going pretty good.Hand-held laser dazzler is already inducted.Crowd-control dazzlers will be ready within a year while Laser-based ordnance disposal system will be in trial soon.Air defence dazzlers will take few more years(status unknown,reports suggested that it'll be ready in (2013-2014) while works on 25-kilowatt laser systems(5-7 years) and 100-kilowatt solid-state laser systems(over a decade), for destroying missiles is going on..
