Stationing anything close to border proves a double edge sword, whatever benefit it may offer to the home security, with all the airborne and ground based gadgetry available, the other side can detect, monitor and counter every move of your assets.

Perhaps the advantages of a better reaction time offsets the probable risk ? :undecided:

Reaction time maybe one aspect. Safety of assets is another particularly when seen in historical light(as IAF knows full well) - Pakistan has always methodically kicked off a war by surprise raids on airbases to destroy assets on the ground.

Either they are very confident of being able to protect their assets or media reports are rubbish.
The question is - considering India is very big in size, it offers tremendous scope to IAF to base premium assets in the hinterland particularly as IAF has had Mid Air Refueling assets for a really long time now - enough to practice and put in regular ops.

Why then..?

.
Its because India is still just Pakistan centric.

India had a golden opportunity to walk its talk about being China centric by starting from there. When it came to it, India ki sui still stuck on Pakistan.

Stationing first Sqd against Pakistan sector still shows that Pak centric mentality. Had they stationed the first one in the Chinese opposite sector, we may have said there is a change, but as of now with this announcement, it seems there is no change in that mentality.

Well we all put a lock on our doors to discourage thieves, who might or might not come. But sometimes that rat in the house has more nuisance value. Those upcoming 2 squadrons are rat poison. We pay enough attention to everybody, dont make it a matter of pride.

No disrespect intended but its the only corollory i could think of.

.
My concern is for Lakshdeep and Indira Point we need 1 Flight each here.

Rafale for Lakshadeep???

The MMRCA are not air-dominance fighters, they're pure multirole,
or in Rafale's case, Omni-role. This however should not be mistaken that MMRCAs can't do air-superiority
missions.

Air superiority is part of multi role and with it's low RCS, AESA radar, MICA and METEOR, high maneuverability and TWR, why shouldn't it be useful for air superiority missions?

What if it entails, like Janon alluded to it, these prime air assets working in tandem with the Strike Corp in an Indian rendition of blitzkrieg to truly take away Pakistan's traditional advantage i.e us being able to bring our forces forward much earlier & perhaps even enjoy a day or twos worth of numerical superiority !

Hence the obvious....

PAF and PA must abandon its FOB and move somewhere remote in Balochistan.... you never know which one is coming...

India is focussed on protecting itself from enemies.period. If you read the news..you will know that two squads for Pakistan and two squads on the EAST...which means both fronts are equally important. and did you really expect that India will not field any squadron on the western border just because we said we are China centric ?? lol.

Its because India is still just Pakistan centric.

India had a golden opportunity to walk its talk about being China centric by starting from there. When it came to it, India ki sui still stuck on Pakistan.
I believe the past COAS and now ACM have both said their forces will not be enemy-centric but threat centric meaning they are building up capabilities across the board to counter any threat that may arise whether that be Paksitan, China or something else. For whatever reason the IAF decided to base the first MMRCAs here but I wouldn't read too much into it. This decision could have been taken due to a number of practical or operational considerations. The SQD immediately after will probably be be deployed in the EAC- do we read anything from this? In the age of supersonic jets and IFR where india bases its jets is almost irrelevant because if it needs to it can move assets wherever in hours.

We don't live in primitive ages... as we were before without any early warning... we know about every plane taking off in Pakistani airspace(near our vicinity and upto Peshawar)... during Highly tense situations.

Soon we would keep the record of every vehicle moving near and upto Islamabad.

Haven't you seen Sancho's post above? The first squadron is available for both ops against Pak & china.
Its just that Ambala falls into WAC that Pakistanis think that you are all that India thinks about.

A fighter can fly both ways...the chinese border is just as far as the pakistani border there. The plane
goes where they need it at what point in time.

China has announced that it will base J-20 in Tibet in
2018 (thats if it'll get ready by 2018), so this means that China has now become totally India-centric?
Ofcourse not. Its main target still remains USA. Same is true for India.

I think being a mod you should show some matured opinions.

Thats true but what the article said was "air dominance MMRCA" which is factually incorrect.

Since you have ruined another thread with your usual pictorial glorification, i'll let you keep that honour.
However, if you must, then say hello to NASR......and goodbye to the world.

What a childish post. You think India can't blow up your parliament with a nuke if we so desire?

Secondly, Pakistan can never match India's conventional weapons capability , now more so.

. . .
Would be a good move. Ambala has many more surprises. Considering it vulnerable is just a day dreaming. Pakistan concentric or not is a fanboy rant or convenience for those who wants to pretend victim for some unknown reasons.
