If selected, Rafale will be the best to counter China rather than Su30mki.

I know that and my previous statement was made taking into consideration of the new facilities that HAL will be building for MMRCA. The facility they are building for MMRCA will be the facility building MMRCA and no other facility. This facility won't be producing enough aircraft to complete the order by 2020.HAL has been undergoing a huge modernisation and the modernisation will be complete by 2012.It will be a bigger entity.HAL is looking to set up manufacturing plants in Gujarat and TN to ramp up production.
So just chill
27 fighters a year is pretty much possible- the mki is being produced at 28 fighters a year......
But to get to that number it takes time, production will start at only about 10 fighters a year and move up from there
The last number I saw is 13 MKIs a year, 27 is by far too much, because we would have way more of them operational by now, but HAL has just build around 80+ MKIs so far.
Any source buddy?Last year it was reported that in 2009-10 HAL built 24 MKIs and in 2010-11 28.It has been posted and discussed here too.
REGARDS....
Read it here in some reports as well, but as I said just think it through. We have around 100 - 130 MKIs now and at least 50 of them were directly delivered by Russia, so the rest was build by HAL. It's normal that the production in the early years are very slow, but if they had build 24 MKIs last year, we would have way more fighters operational by now.
P.S. You can calculate it the other way around as well. IF HAL has produced 70 of the 140 fighters that were initially to be build under licence and the production rate is at 24 last year, they would produce the last 70 till 2013 and could deliver even de additional 42 till 2015. However, the original production was aimed to end in 2015 only and the additional 42 should be in production till 2018.
Yeah I did not thought that way.I was just talking about the article. But as per wiki(though unreliable but have nothing else)IAF operates 160 MKIs as of 2011.So HAL has delivered 110-120 MKIs by now.But still as it is wiki I may be very well wrong.THANX for replying.

Onus On HAL To Speed Up Su-30 MKI Production
Aug 11, 2010
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) will have to step up Su-30MKI production at its Nasik facility following the announcement for 42 more fighters being ordered from Russia.
The ball is now in HALs court and it needs to speed-up the delivery of the current order so as to take the additional load, a senior Indian Air Force (IAF) official told AVIATION WEEK. HAL has been told to complete the ongoing Su-30MKI blocks (under the compressed schedule) by 2015 at all costs. There are concerns expressed by us time and again and we are watching the progress at the other end, the official said...
...The IAF already have inducted more than 110 Sukhois (out of original 230 aircraft) and the additional 42 would take the total strength to 272 (Aerospace DAILY, Aug. 11). The IAF fleet has been steadily declining the last few years. It is operating with 32 fighter squadrons, short of the approved 39.5, and fleet strength could dip to 27 by 2017.
Indian defense minister A.K. Antony told the Indian Parliament that the Su-30MKIs would be delivered to the IAF during 2014-2018.
No problem, if the reference is reliable, wiki is reliable too, but the figures varies from source to source. Found this from last year:

More Su-30MKI fighters to be purchased
The Indian air force is expected to place order for an additional batch of forty Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighters.
Speaking to the local media, Ashok Nayak, chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) company that produces these aircraft locally in India under the Russian license, said he expects the air force to award HAL respective contract for more Su-30MKIs.
Ashok Nayak further said that a total of 180 such aircraft have already been ordered from HAL. Of those, 105 aircraft have been delivered so far. First of HAL-assembled Su-30MKIs was rolled out in November 2004.
Not long ago Indian defence ministry awarded Russian Su-30MKI manufacturers a direct contract for 40 such aircraft on top of the previously ordered. This follow-on order was formalized in the middle of the past year. The aircraft will be constructed by NPO Irkut’s plant in Irkutsk and delivered to the customer through their developer Sukhoi and Russian state arms export agency Rosoboronexport.
Today, the Su-30MKI is the best asset in the Indian air force inventory and forms the backbone of its fighter squadrons. The service often sends its Sukhoi fighters abroad for various international exercises involving US and Asian allies.
so, as of jan this yr 105 mki had been produced....first mki came in 2004- on avg thats a production rate of 15 per yr, but during the first few years production was very slow, so its not much of a stretch to believe that current production rate is beyond 20 per yr, especially with the iaf pressurizing hal to increase the production rate
Many many THANX mate.I just forgot about this link and could not confront Sancho any more.Till the year 2007/8 it was only 14 MKIs/year.So currently it is 28/year at the very least for sure.

Again, with a rate of 20 and 105 already delivered, HAL would need only 2 more years (this and the next) to deliver the initial 140 and another 2, to fulfill the total of 180 order, but that's not the case right? The licence production is still planed to end at 2015 for the initial and 2018 for the last batch.
