Altay & Turkish Main Battle Tank Programs

Look at the upload date. 2008. our system is not the first of it s kind.
Iron Fist Active Protection System - Discovery Future Weapons - YouTube

Read about the iron fist and you will see very fast where the south Koreans and where our engineers got their ideas.

Yes the RPGs motor only ignites after launch, the initial launch is achieved using a charge.

The data on Akkor is not 100% at the moment because the system has been delayed. I am really hoping they delayed it to further improve its effectiveness and decrease its reaction times. Maybe changes to improve software or the possibility of dual engagement are being added.

And where the Israelis had their bright ideas ?

This is the result of very slow human technological evolution from its origins. Nobody created entirely, each is inspired by what others are doing before him.

Yes if you are asking where the Israelis got their idea it was the Russians.

The Russians were the first creators and users of APS. Another rumor is that Trophy is the worlds first combat tested APS. Incorrect, the Drozd APS, the worlds first APS created in the mid to late 70s. The Drozd used a Doppler Radar and had an electronics suit. The Drozd was realistically decades ahead of its time. It was applied to Soviet T55 tanks and some T64s. It was deployed to combat in Afghanistan in the 80s and achieved a success rate of 80% against AT weapons that fired into its arc, which was something like 60 or 70 degrees to the front of the tank maybe I cant remember exactly. The only reason the Russians removed Drozd was its danger to escorting infantry if I am remembering correctly, it has been a long time since I researched the Drozd.

Look up the system, its very interesting as it really was the first combat tested electronically controlled APS system used in he world.

The interesting thing was after the Russians stopped using the Drozd it was exported the an unknown customer in the middle east. Chances are that was Israel.

Turkey’s first domestic tank sees big regional demand - BUSINESS

Altay, Turkey’s first domestic tank in the making, has received much interest from the country’s allies, said Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) head İsmail Demir said Jan. 7 during a presentation at parliament.

Including Pakistan and the Gulf countries, we can say that countries that we have good relations with are showing a large interest in the tank. Representatives of some countries are being invited to the ongoing firing tests,” he said, adding that the tests were extremely satisfying.

Lately, we have seen that Saudi Arabia’s interest was big,” he said.

Just speculating, more likely to be a muzzle velocity radar for tests. But, India is going to integrate radar for their tank modernization, Aselsan may follow developments..

Final version of Arjun with Radar, doesn't bare resemblance to Altay panel with the bolts?

That's not a radar, but part of it's passive defence system. It's been redesigned to go along with the ERA panels.

I don't think without a Tumosan's engine KSA would even think about buying the tank....Germans are very stingy with their engines.

Yeah sure, Russia provided Israel Drozd while it was supplying military equipment to arab armies?
And Drozd isn't combat proven system, cause it didn't see any real engagement.
Moreover, Trophy today is the only combat proven system and Iron Fist is also one of it's kind system.
Both those systems are an achievement for the Israeli industry

Mate anyone who has studied APS systems will tell you Drozd was the worlds first Combat Proven APS.

The 80% success rate accounts for all interceptions inside its coverage area. That success rate is not an insane number considering the arc is only 60 degrees (just the front of the tank). Which means the system has a very small focus area making success easy.

The system killed and wounded so many soviet infantry because of its high success rate at interception that it was removed from the tanks.

Cant KSA use American turbo engines in Antay? As you will not care about consumption and thermal view of it against Yemen?
USA will not have reasons to stop the sale of it..
