... I remeber Karachi from pre 85 when all the truble strted with the death of two student sisters by a minibus...

Exactly what my parents said. That is where the society in Karachi started to become increasingly violent and law/order became a thing of the past. It is better to carry a gun than to remain a "good citizen".
MQM is not alone is ruining my city. They've destroyed what could have been one of the best places to live. A true Metropolitan city.

Altaf Bhai is the true representatives of Urdu Speakers.

Had there been no MQM, our community would have been exterminated.

=Aeronaut :::: I can pick the "passion" in your talk about "altaf bhai" - Just answer my one question - why should he be trusted who thinks that "the creation of Pakistan was the biggest blunder in human history". Care to explain , to me it sounds like Altaf kodoo thinks that Quaid e Azam was wrong in creating Pakistan -- just bring some explanation .

[/QUOTE]
Read again friend its not passion its desperation ! .. as under the circumstances there isnt any one else ... i wish imran was but he isnt either...any way thats off topic , About the creation of Pakistan statement that was stupid i do not support it and he shouldnt have said that in india however he did explained in what context he said that. here is it for you.

=mehru;1663811]What about other leaders? Aren't their lives in danger? By your definition, every leader should stay out of Pakistan.
well most havent openly anknowledged nor critisized islamic extremism ,talibanisation of pakistan , fuedals nor military estabilishment. I am yet too see any one who does that ... remember just in the beganing of this year salman taseer and shahbaz bhatti (these are high profile people) were murdered except them i dont have a count of murders but there are thousands slaughtered.

While i don't deny that MQM has done a lot of infrastructure work in Karachi but what about law and order? They are in coalition right now. Who is behind targeted killings? Don't say MQM has no hand otherwise you will join the denial brigade.
interior ministry who controls the law and order was with MQM in musharafs era except very few there was never a havoc like this or before & No MQM arent saints and in my rough guess they must have militant wings as without there is no survival ! karachi unlike cities in punjab have huge population of all sort of religions as well as ethinic , the city's resources are maxed out , there is heavy taliban presence , in simple terms its the talibans revenue engine and there is little MQM can do to control.

Yeah i know he doesn't want to become PM of Pakistan but you can't be that naive to understand that he is the founding leader of the party. It will be his policies that will be followed, not the PM. Consider the example of our present PM. It is Zardari all the way.

you answered it your self , MQM needs him safe as they need his policies , he is been running things long enough and knows it all inside out. Difference btw him and zardari is zardari choose to be the president he has openly said he doesnt want to be one. What MQM is trying to do under his leadership is to bring up leaders and politicians from within middleclass , this culture of heriditary politics must be finished.... and for that we need altaf. And give it another 15 years he and most will have to leave ..... its for our next generations.

Altaf Hussain has no chance in Punjab. People of Punjab will never forget his speech he made in Delhi and begged the Indian government to take all Mohajirs back to India and said partition was a blunder. Punjabi Pakistanis are hardcore Pakistani nationalists, we hate traitors like Altaf Hussain.

The only reason why he wants popularity in Punjab is because Punjab province has the largest population and which ever party wins the vote in Punjab will lead Pakistan, but that will never happen for MQM. This MQM party can not even lead their own province of Sindh, how can they lead the entire nation.

As for Balochistan, leave that province under the control of ISI and Pak Fauj for the time being. There are all kinds of games being played in that province by world powers and neighbouring countries. ISI and Pak Fauj need to keep a firm grip on that province.

MQM too close for comfort in Punjab

LAHORE: With the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) getting too close for comfort in Punjab, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is alarmed, sensing the move that was initially meant for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) three years back has been successfully applied against it by the powerful establishment to strike political balance for the anticipated testing times for it in the months to come.

The sources in the PML-N told Daily Times that there is a general feeling within the party that the policy devised by the establishment to ‘marginalise the top leadership of leading parties’ had succeeded in Punjab, a bastion of PML-N, as it has to allow MQM to start politics here. The PPP on the other hand, said the sources, had nothing to lose as far as the emergence of MQM in Punjab’s politics is concerned as it was successfully countering MQM in Sindh, despite keeping a shaky political alliance with it, both at the Centre as well as in Sindh.

A top PML-N leader from Punjab told Daily Times on the condition of anonymity that the party has failed to move an inch forward as far its out-reach to the masses on the basis of the party’s government’s performance is concerned. “The story of the party’s working in the province has nothing but failure all around hence the sojourn of MQM in the plains of Punjab where it has nothing to achieve keeping in view its style of politics in the urban centres of Sindh,” he said.

The party sources said the move of the establishment to bring the MQM in the politics of Punjab had brought the “group of hawks” led by opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the receiving end within the party.

The sources said the “hawks” had been devising political strategy of the party on the line of taking the PPP as enemy against the establishment while the group of “doves” led by Javed Hashmi and Ishaq Dar had been trying to keep the party policy on the lines drawn well within the ambit of the Charter of Democracy signed by the party with the PPP.

The sources said the “doves” in the PML-N had been viewing the address of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to initiate debate on President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of the parliament as licking wounds he himself caused to the party during the three years of hawkish policy against the PPP government.

A senior party leader from Punjab told Daily Times that the mentioning of agencies by the opposition leader in National Assembly as the force behind emergence of MQM in Punjab politics has not served the party well. Instead, he suggested, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should have traced the causes that has emboldened the establishment to bring MQM in Punjab, which was nothing but adding salt to PML-N injuries that were inflicted to the party by none other but the party hawks.

The senior PML-N leader said, “The time has come for the party to revisit its policies viz-a-viz its working with the ruling PPP and shun politics of confrontation that it has unilaterally started by expelling the PPP ministers out of the Punjab government.”

The PML-N leader, however, appreciated the opposition leader in the National Assembly for extending an olive branch to the PPP on the question of the much talked about government of technocrats as an option being debated in political circles. The PML-N can best serve the masses by foiling the moves of the establishment against democratic system in the country for which it was not hesitating in planting thorns in the land that can produce the best roses, opined the PML-N leader.

The sources in the party believe that the PML-N better stop highlighting the issue of Raymond Davis since the more the party presses the issue, the more criticism it will invite since it has a very poor case to offer as far as its role in the release of CIA operative is concerned.

The sources said the duo of hawks – Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Shahbaz Sharif – are the only voices in the party that have been debating the issue while the rest had decided to stay aloof of the debate that has done nothing except causing embarrassment to the party.
