"New Sindhi' is a much better term. It shakes off the now-odd 'Mohajir' label--how can one be a 'Mohajir' after 3-4 generations? 'New Sindhi' also tells the local Sindhi population that we belong to Sindh.
Personally, I think, it was very short-sighted of the New Sindhis to react against Zulfi's promoting Sindhi language in the 70's. Sindh is a wonderful land. Sindhis are a great, tolerant people. And Sindhi is a mature, full-fledged rich language. I would be proud to have mastery of Sindhi and have deep attachment to Sindh and Sindhi culture. There was no way Sindhi language could have replaced, or even hurt Urdu. Urdu will remain the linqua franca of Pakistan.
I totally agree - the land of Shah Abdul Latif .
