All the countries US has “regime changed” descended into brutal chaos

Since 2001, the US has undertaken regime change in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya; all 3 countries are now in chaos and extremists are more in control than ever.
The WashingtonsBlog has taken a look into the current situation of several countries where the US has changed their governments and are now being threatened by extremist militants more than ever.

Iraq

In Iraq, hardcore extremists known as ISIL have taken over much of the country – as the new “Islamic State” or self-described caliphate – using captured American weapons.

Libya

Libya has also descended into absolute chaos. Al Qaeda is now largely in control of Libya. Indeed, Al Qaeda flags were flown over the Benghazi courthouse once former Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi was toppled.

According to Amnesty International, the “mounting curbs on freedom of expression are threatening the rights Libyans sought to gain“. A repressive Gaddafi-era law has been amended to criminalize any insults to officials or the general national congress (the interim parliament).

Under militia rule, Libya is beginning to disintegrate.

One of the great perversities of the so-called war on terror is that fundamentalist radical forces have flourished as a direct consequence of it. Libya is no exception, even though such movements often have little popular support.

Ominously, Libya’s chaos is spilling across the region. The country is awash with up to 15 million rifles and other weapons, and a report by the UN panel of experts this month found that “Libya has become a primary source of illicit weapons“. These arms are fuelling chaos in 14 countries, including Somalia, the Central African Republic, Nigeria and Niger.

There is a real prospect of the country collapsing into civil war or even breaking up. Unless there are negotiated settlements to its multiple problems, Libya will surely continue its descent into mayhem, and the region could be dragged into the mire with it.

28-year CIA veteran Paul Pillar – who rose to be one of the agency’s top analysts – wrote in May:

Saudi Arabia and several other Arab states have evacuated their diplomats from Libya, the United States is preparing for possible evacuation of US personnel, and the country appears on the brink of a larger civil war.

The intervention already has negatively affected US interests, particularly in providing a disincentive to other regimes to do what Gaddafi did in negotiating an end to involvement in terrorism and an end to production of unconventional weapons.

And things have only gotten worse since then.

It should be remembered that the US helped sew the seeds of chaos in several ways. Not only did we engage in direct military intervention against Gadafi, but also – as confirmed by a group of CIA officers –armed Al Qaeda so that they would help topple Gaddafi.)

Afghanistan

In Afghanistan opium production is at an all-time high under the American occupation of Afghanistan.

And the New York Times reports this week that the Taliban are currently making huge gains in Afghanistan … in some cases expanding even beyond their traditional areas of influence prior to 2001.

Syria

In Syria, the US has heavily backed the radical militants in Syria in an attempt to implement regime change in that country. The result?
The radical have taken a third of the country as part of their “caliphate”.

And the extremists are now busily crucifying, beheading and slitting the throats of everyone opposing them.

Haven’t These Wars Made It Safer at Home?

But haven’t all of these wars made it safer here at home? Nope … a top Pentagon officials says we’re no safer – and perhaps less safe – after 13 years of war.

As we’ve pointed out for almost a decade, security experts – conservative hawks and liberal doves alike – agree that waging war in the Middle East weakens national security and increases terrorism.

Regime Support

But the US doesn’t always back regime change. Sometimes we work to support regimes …

… Unfortunately, they tend to be some of the most brutal tyrannies on the planet.

Postscript: We can probably add Ukraine to the list of regime changed countries falling into chaos and murderous extremism, given that:

• The US State Department spent more than $5 billion dollars in pushing Ukraine away from Russia;

• The US ambassador to Ukraine (Geoffrey Pyatt) and assistant Secretary of State (Victoria Nuland) were recorded plotting the downfall of the former Ukraine government in a leaked recording;

Top-level US officials literally handed out cookies tothe protesters who overthrew the Ukrainian government;

• The US has been backing –militarily as well as monetarily –the Neo-Nazis who have plunged the country into chaos.

Poor Iraq.

Terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda were pretty much non-existent in Iraq prior to 2003.

Now there are multiple major suicide blasts there every single day, and even Al-Qaeda has been superseded by even more brutal groups like ISIS.

Iraq has now become a Hell of terrorism worse than even Somalia.

USA has created Taliban in Afghanistan.

USA and west has created extremist wahabis in Syria to destroy resistance in that country.

@MOHSENAM
US fought all this wars only for creating more wars and instability.For them this type of active warzones are just a test field for test their new weapons.
Honestly with out their enormous air power they cant even move a single step against Taliban.
They know how to start a war but they dont know how to end a war or stop a war.

If they do not sell their Military Equipments to middle eastern countries, their economies will fail soon...

So their ecconomy grow up with bloods of middle eastern countries and plundering their oil.

.
These wars created huge orders for US weapons manufacturers who were without major orders. These companies made billions and US economy which was pretty much in recession somewhat recovered. That was the main aim and was achieved. Who cares what these wars created thousands of miles away.

Nobody is "plundering" anything - but the oil must flow so that the world economy thrives - therefore regional regimes that oppose this must be eliminated (see Iraq) or marginalized to the point of irrelevance (see Iran).

FYI, there are a lot of middle eastern countries that got wiser and started working with the USA/Europe, instead of stupidly opposing the tide for no gain

If there's something the Americans/Europeans are to blame with is their complete failure to read the locals mindset - they foolishly believed that once the dictators are toppled and democratic & secular systems introduced the locals will naturally support said institutions, since it would drastically improve their lives. (and automatically become a allied, or at least sympathetic pro-USA, pro-EU regime)

Sadly, it seems that tribal mindset & squabbles about what happened 1000 + years ago take precedence over living a better life, so though luck..

Ps: from only the posts here, you are a classic example of complete failure: the product of a country which has so much potential, only to be wasted way on useless propaganda pushed forward by a disastrously failed regime on it's population

Please you have no idea what you're talking about. Companies like Microsoft or Apple is making wayyyyy more profit than companies like Lockheed Martin or Northrup Grumman. Also add commercial-off-the-shelf technology.

That shitty oil conspiracy theory got busted a long time ago, buddy.

Ever heard of dual use technology. Ever wondered where Microsoft, IBM and Apple super computers are used. We are facing the consequences of your war on terror (war on error) for the last thirteen years. Don't tell us we do not know any thing. Go to Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya and ask common people there and they will tell you what they feel about USA's war on terror.

Afghanistan > talibans welcomed Al Qaida / OBL : 9/11 => Afghanistan war against talibans
at least people are happy not having talibans there anymore (my Afghan friends at least say so)

It is convenient to blame only USA when most of the problems are our own responsabilities:
countries involved , bad governements, mafia style country high corruption,

just check on the developpement in China , Japan, Korea,

and use your brain one second : how could these countries be so developped when we stick to the low ?

.
it's sad and true. every time we stick our nose in these countries, and over throw the so-called dictator or whatever, it all goes to shit.

i rather deal with the devil I know then the one I don't.

Whatever it was then 9/11 was just a drop in the ocean compared to the American war crimes against civilians in countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq and DOZENS of others.

This incident got way too much publicity compared to the casualties and served as justification for much worse crimes committed by the American ruling elite.

It was a question of time before American foreign policy created people willing to do such a operation. It's amazing that only 19 people engaged in this compared to direct or American sponsored casualties on the Muslim side.

No, I don't support 9/11 nor am I connived that the official story is the correct one (fully).

OP is absolutely right and we all seem to know it - so why do Muslims fall into the trap every time?

Countless times I have read people on PDF blaming US for not attacking Assad directly. Now it turns out they are involved so we blame them too.

The Muslim world needs to wake up and take responsibility for itself and stop falling for the same bullshit every time. Next target is Iran and many Muslims are already creating the propaganda to justify it.

Point is we need to stop dividing ourselves and then others won't take advantage.
