Exactly - some are so jealous though.....

With this plant I'm sure we can save many Billions in importation of refined petroleum products. Which will supplement the internal fuel source (Natural Gas).

What the story did not make clear though that although we refine only 20% of our internal refined petroleum demand (mostly Eastern Refinery), we meet a lot of the remainder using Natural Gas. Which is cleaner to boot.

The new refinery will produce about 80% of our existing demand, which is increasing exponentially every year. Which means if set up within the next couple of years, we will be able to meet 95% plus of our demand for various petroleum products.

I am happy to note that this mega refinery project by Basundhara group will be financed by our own local and foreign currencies. The company will not certainly allow any Indian company to get the contract from it for the construction, erection and commissioning of this project.

The Eastern Oil Refinery is also building a 2nd Unit which will expand its refining capacity threefold to 4.5 million mt. Plus, an oil refinery is also planned at Payra.

If things remain this way, petroleum products is set to be added to our export basket.
