Very obviously a passenger plane in the second video. I would guess the first featured a missile of some sort.

Roswell and Area 51 are successful distractions for the real event...

We lost the spaceship overboard because of rough seas. Because of war time necessities, the US decided not to pursue salvage operations but to keep its location a secret. Everyone was sworn to secrecy and told that any leaked stories would be considered so outlandish that the storytellers would not be believed anyway.

The US and allies conceded that the time of believing humans are the only intelligent life in the universe is over but to ease the Earth's human population into such realization, the creative community is enlisted. Hence, the genre 'science fiction' and its most prominent members were allowed access to this information.

The US then used the Apollo moon landing program to send ships all over the world under the cover of assessing water landing sites so the salvage ship can raise the spaceship. The salvage operation was successful and the remoteness of the Area 51 desert site served to protect the dissection of the spaceship and exploration of its technologies, as well to lend credence to the argument that alien landings are absurd tales. Sort of hiding in plain sight, if you will. The alien itself died when it felled overboard. We buried it with full military honors.

The alien ship was mostly restored to flight status. We flew the spacecraft and allowed a few allies pilots to fly it as well and we found that it was not designed for atmospheric operations, or at best limited for atmospheric operations. Most of the technologies remain mysterious to us but the investigative and deductive work continues to understand and exploit them. The success of the 'sci-fi' genre in popular entertainment proved the wisdom of the plan to prepare Earth's humanity for the inevitable day when we do meet our galactic neighbors.
