Interestingly Algeria is now a Turkish client and weapon purchaser. They can diversify getting the more important things from turkey and modernizing further and the smaller things from Russia. As it stands now they are ranked high in the fire power index and robustly armed

FIS is dead after he became radical with his baby GIA, Army was weak under embargo and sanctions country was blocked until bouteflika came he success to stop civil war and manage djihadist groups to drop weapons and leave mountains area to return in society now his era is end in 2019 thoses are just chapters and lessons who every country cross it on to grow up

Algeria is a big country, why not develop your own arms industry. Some of those $ billions spent on russian industry making jobs for Russians can be spent inside developing your own industry and making jobs and keeping your bright people inside...just my thoughts.
