Algeria has signed a contract for the acquisition of 14 Su-57 stealth fighters with Russia. According to Menadefense portal, the Algerian air force has also signed two other arrangements for 14 Su-34 bombers and 14 Su-35 air domination aircraft. An option for two additional squadrons of 14 aircraft for each type of aircraft was also signed to compensate for the natural withdrawal of aircraft from the Air Force fleet shortly.

The contract should be completed by 2025, by this deadline the Algerian army will deploy two wings of Su-30MKA, one squadron of Su-57, one of Su-35 and one of Mig-29M2 for air domination, two squadrons of upgraded Su-24 and one of Su-34 for the bomber fleet. The transformation of the pilots will be done on-board Yak-130.

The rise of the Moroccan Air Force with the acquisition of 25 F-16 Vipers and the appearance of F-35s in the Italian fleet motivated Algeria’s rapid decision-making.

My own view: We see the successful transformation and rapid decision-making process of the Algerian Air Force, just like we saw them in navy before. Increasing the deterrence of the Algerian armed forces and making its regional power impact more visible will be one of the most important guarantees of peace in the Mediterranean basin. Congratulations Algeria!

The problem is thoses articles cite all as source of this info the Menadefense site and its editor Akram kharief presented as an expert, except that this site has already released lots of fake news ( not always there is also some info that turned out to be true)

This does not mean that Algeria will not buy sukhoi 35, 57 etc ... it is in the logic of things. But it is better to wait for confirmation by a more serious source to say that the contract has been signed. In addition menadefense used the conditional in its article.

I think they're making a mistake opting for Russian jets.

Its not only about jets, such contracts with russia also win some.degree of support from russia.
Putin have played his cards very well in syria and russia now comes out as a power that will support u militarily in a conflict, while US under trump is very unreliable. Russia is thus gaining support.

It is now almost official, Algeria has inked a contract for the acquisition of 14 Su-57 stealth fighters and becomes the first customer to whom the manufacturer Sukhoi will export this more advanced Russian fighter.
The Algerian air force has also signed two other contracts for 14 Su-34 bombers and 14 Su-35 air domination aircraft. An option for two other squadrons of 14 aircraft for each type of aircraft was also signed to compensate for the natural withdrawal of aircrafts from the Air Force fleet in the near future.

The transformation of the pilots will be done on board Yak-130.

For a long time, Algeria negotiated the purchase of Su-34 and Su-35 with ups and downs during the discussions and with some special requirements. First, the AAF rejected the Su-32, export version of the Su-34 bomber, especially after the experience feedback in Syria then, a long internal debate on the option of taking more Su-30 or even turning to a partner other than Russia, or continue modernizing the fleet with Moscow.

The decision was taken in the summer of 2019 after the visit of an Algerian delegation to the MAKS air show in Moscow. During this visit led by the Air Force Commander Major General Boumaiza, the Su-57 was examined from every angle, the former Algerian Mig-29 pilot was even one of the rare foreigners to try the stealth plane Russian on a simulator. It is he who would have decided on the future of acquisitions of the air force after five years of procrastination and loss of time. The rise of the Moroccan Air Force with the acquisition of 25 F-16 Vipers and the appearance of F-35s in the Italian fleet motivated Algeria’s rapid decision-making.

With this contract, Algeria will become the first country on the southern shore of the Mediterranean to have stealth planes and 5th generation aircraft after being the first to introduce 4th generation planes.

International media today confirms information about the acquisition of the Su-57.

Has anyone seen anything relating to the cost of purchasing the Su-57? ie unit costs of the platform that Algeria will have to pay.

.
Su-57 is a beat. Algeria shall have upper hand over Morocco with Su-57 versus F-16.
Morocco might get the F-35 easily..' cause it seems the US has opened its armament to Morocco for most sophisticated US systems.. And it can be good for both.. HaHa

is this as far as they can think

how to fight another fellow Arab country

in 1963 Moroccan army crossed into Algeria in force and succeeded in taking two border posts and adjust the border...
The Sand War laid the foundations for a lasting and often intensely hostile rivalry between Morocco and Algeria, exacerbated by the differences in political outlook between the conservative Moroccan monarchy and the revolutionary arab nationalist Algerian military government.
Algeria cant trust moroccan medieval monarchy they want to establish to great morocco based on this map:

anyway ALG closed border in 1994 which has generated economic and social stagnation of eastern Morocco.

India and Pakistan are fighting but have a very similar language and culture but only difference is religion.
You should definitely visit Pakistan someday, i can host you . Comparing Pakistan and Indian Culture is as if you are comparing Pak and UAE culture.

Not even remotely similar.

I have seen arabs normally saying that due to similarity in looks of eastern and southern pakistanis with west northern indians.

Language alone would classify it as closer to Pakistan than say Israel to us. Indian and Pakistani isn't super different before religion started being a major factor.

The Ind-Pak border signifies a centuries old difference in ethnicities and constant rifts.

Pakistan is part of Persia from west and part of Indus from East.

Western India mainly punjab and rajasthan are similar to pakistani punjab while as you go further right to central, south and eastern India, you will find people out either Chinese faces or similar to bengal.

Not to forget, the concept of India was made by East India company of British while mughals before then conquered this whole land and forced the Hindus, defeating them under the umbrella of mighty Mughal empire. Before that? Independent and strangers states.

Just for general knowledge
