AZ was recently upgraded but no clear image was available, this is the first one.

It has a better armor, better rubber tracks, new skirts, cooling system, upgraded sights and new BMS.

The upgrades you've mentioned have been present since ancient time.... (hint: 2nd gen TI)
I'm by no means saying that Al-Zarrar is a lousy tank (even though the hollow armour freak me out tho) since it's not supposed to be our front line tank anyway....
We have our sights set on the AK2 to see if we're making progress or not....

hollow armour? do u know there is composite layer at front and sides under which there is 300-400mm cast turret? u add ERA over it and u have a type-59 with almost 1000mm armour protection?? i am sure u didnt know

The first Type-1 was never in mass production only Type-2 and Type-3

Type-3 of Alzarrar is well known by every military expert since 2007 and officially since "Pakistan Ideas 2008", so this Tank is 7 years old if not older tell what is new since 2007 ? only the paintjob is new !!!!

And according to the Member desertfighter the Type-3 has no ERA

Brother the point was only that we all know Al-Zarrar Type-3 since the Ideas 2008 officially, but some members want tell us that it is very new and only known since last year........

My Brother I am Happy with all the stuff which we have, just writing about wrong and right facts ! So than I will ask you and @Aeoronaut, have the "new" Al-Zarrar in the PICTURE which was posted here ERA protection ?

It is one of the most comprehensive T-54/55 series refits that I'm aware of are in existence.

What's the further upgradation?? These tanks are obsolete as it is even in the "upgraded" form and are only good for fighting terrorists. They're just T-54/55's upgraded with a few modernized electronics and new gun. Against india's massive fleet of T-72's and T-90's these T-54/55 derivatives don't stand a chance.

We just wasted resources upgrading a tank that became obsolete a long time ago. Why couldn't we just convert them into a mobile mortar system?? Or even a tracked IFV of some sort??

Israelis converted a few captured Arab T-55's into APC's and IFV's. Why couldn't we do the same instead of "upgrading" a tank that's already obsolete?? Why do we lack innovation??

Israeli Achzarit APC/IFV converted from captured T-55's:

The APC known as the "Achzarit" is an APC which is based on the "Tiran" a Russian model captured in combat- the T-55/T-54. The tank has been converted by the Armament Corps into a heavy APC. The motor and gearbox have been changed, with additional armored plating, an external rear exit and updated suspension in order to improve maneuvering and handling. The Achzarit has advanced armored plating, and is equipped with four MAG machine guns, one of which is controlled from the inside of the vehicle, and a smoke-grenade launcher of IDF manufacture. The APC started serving the IDF at the end of the 80s, and has served in the northern region of the country since then. In recent years it has begun entering service in Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza regions. In 2005 certain models of the Achzarit were updated to serve as ambulance/APC.

yes all alzarrars are and can be fitted with ERA, ur firnd either didnt know it or lied. ur own pics show it, regarding improvements, system andminir improvents are a constant and are undertqken often but rarely publicized, stabilization, gun control and bms integration, armour uogrades all done since last few years
