F-15s are very complex machines and are operated by a very exclusive club of American top allies. America is very jealous about protecting its technology. Pakistan is also operating F-16s since the 80s, I wonder how much of it is it developing itself?

I can still see them flying above Taif almost on a daily basis, I guess we are not affected or as affected as the European nations, as we are not currently going through defense cuts. I am more interested to know if KSA is going to start providing Saudi made spare parts to the European nations soon. As production of commonly changed spare parts is part of the ToT.

You see, this is what my beef is with the current policies.

These parts are cheaper to make in Saudi Arabia than Europe.
Research && Dev is cheaper to carry out in Saudi Arabia than Europe or America
Man Power is more abundant in Saudi Arabia than Europe

THUS

Saudi Arabia should be exporting and NOT importing on a larger industrial scale than this.

This news is a good achievement, but it is only a very small fraction of total potential.

A few month back I asked a question regarding EFT manufacturing facility in SA on which the reply that was posted was that it is not possible for it to be completely manufactured in SA. Considering the present situation regarding the EFT of European Nations would it not be better if this aircraft is completely manufactured and assembled under one roof (country).
The Turks were discussing this before they decided to proceed for 5th gen fighter aircraft.

A very good step in the right direction, however, if Pakistan had all this money, we would have argued for full TOT of the entire F-15 and local production. Importing does not make a country stronger. The ability to produce the weapon at will is what makes a country strong. Knowledge is power.
