Al-Qaeda claims slaying of ISI brigadier

Army officers Dnt take soldiers or their escorts to their native areas or villages... The so called guards ( which I doubt there were) must be untrained villagers... Brig Fazal was a simple man.. And most speculations before this AQ claim was that it was a secterian attack.

Sectarian attack in punjab always means the victim is either a shia (of any kind) or deobandi religious figure. Deobandis have no problem with Barelvis , they even do even heated munazaras with them every now and then to debate controversial religious issues in public.

yea .... closely connected to that irony is another one
say CIA and Al Qaeda together and revel at the"irony" as well.

It is ironical that you chose to leave out the most important part of the trio. ;)
So say CIA, Al Qaeda and ISI together, only then will the "irony" get more truthful and even more delicious!

I will like to share an old story back in late 90s. @Icarus would know as well.
there was a failed Caliphate attempt within the army and some junior to senior officers (up to the ranks of star officers) were involved where the political and military leadership was to be executed simultaneously and the head of the coup was to declare caliphate.. I forgot the names of the people involved but this was during second Nawaz goverment and he was also going to be killed.

my father was serving in Attock at the time and one of the the court marshal members (from GHQ's Jag's branch) was my father's course mate and staying in the same army Mess where father was at the time and things he shared were very astounding and sorry for using the clinche line "stranger than fiction"

a major was to march into the Corps commanders meeting and open fire on all the military leadership while his other associates were to do the same to other forces chiefs and the government etc. full Islamic Caliphate was to be imposed and the the head of the Coup was to address the nation after becoming the Caliph etc.

father just mentioned that t while I was on leave and came to visit him. I didnt bother asking what became of the conspirators I guess some were put behind bars for life and some were put in front of the firing squad.

@Irfan Baloch; so are you talking about Brigadier Muntasir Billah who was arrested on 26th Sept 1995, while driving in from someplace in FATA? The leader of that plot was Maj.Gen. Zahir ul Islam Abbasi.

baby you aint kidding
ISI is all over the thread how much you want to rub it in ;)
there is no denying that
only difference is that ISI's sins are now being repeated by someone else and expecting different results ... check out my thread in Afghan forum. might give you a refreshing perspective to Indian love for Northern alliance as narrated by American marine :)

I guess the newly constituted group AQIS (Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent) did not get the news that terrorists worldwide have been put on notice. Their activities will not be tolerated. If AQIS is for real, they will not remain so for long. Recently, Pakistan Navy commandos repelled an attack on Karachi’s naval dockyard, which was claimed by this group. Three terrorists were killed and seven arrested. Earlier, the death of Brig. Zahoor Fazal Qadri was considered sectarian killing, but now two weeks later, this defunct group is taking responsibility. AQIS, ISIL and all other terror groups who thrive on killing of innocent and defenseless people should know that their time is up. The world community has united against them and they will have no place to run and hide. The time has come to give up their evil ideology and join the world communities for a better and more peaceful planet, or they should get ready to be eliminated.

ISI is a discredited organisation which selectively targets terrorist organisation & secretively funds "terror asserts" including Al Qaeda affiliates to be mainly used against India & getting strategic hold in Afghanistan , Af- Pak area. Even the Americans know it & many have also written about it.

oh -- another intern of arnab goat...i mean goswami

thanks for your valuable ANAL-ysis

anything else to add?

because last time i checked - this discredited organization killed or captured and handed over more terrorists than your RAW ever could dream of. How is RAW's track record against the naxalites, assamese/bodo and other groups terrorizing your entire northeast and taking a shyte on any semblance of writ of state there

Definately a insider attack. Precise info about Brigadier movements and whereabouts. The number of gun men he had, that attackers targeted them all rendering them incapable to come after them

nothing shows its an insider attack...the terrorists are very smart and very angry over the operations that have displaced them and seriously impeded their failing efforts

they know the who's who....they monitor movements etc.

the security at the Sufi shrine shouldve been much better.....the gunmen were able to enter the holy areas without a SINGLE resistance.

whats the link....

I have always maintained that this deobandi "tableeghi jamaat" is the biggest breeding ground for extremists and potential recruits for terrorist organizations in pakistan.

tableeghi guys are misunderstood....i used to interact with many of them, most are completely non-political. Even domestic issues like Kashmir liberation or provincial politics they wont get into at all. Very simple minded people

the issues of extremism etc. are mostly due to un-registered madrassas belonging to deobandi/wahhabi schools of thought and their confused supporters...small in number, but still an issue to contend with

Of course it is. That's why their munafiq, khusra leader always targets celebrities. Like he essentially gives spiritual certificate of redemption and mominhood to celebrities like Amir Khan, Veena Malik etc. A true muslim doesn't need to make his advice to other muslims so public via social media and TV etc. He targets celebrities to get his Deobandi sectarian jamaat some publicity. And they have made a lot of converts in Punjab, particularly the central Punjab, hence the extremism in places like Gujranwala.

And there has been systematic attacks against shrines in Punjab and Sindh in the recent months. It's like these Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-jhangvi want to create a civil war like situation, so that they can take over.

@Irfan Baloch - You are talking about Brig Ali Khan, the wannabe caliph from HT goons. Glad he got the shaft before any damage was done.

@Icarus @Irfan Baloch @Abu Zolfiqar

I, believe someone from his very 'close' circles gave him away. It could be some aspirant of the 'Gaddi' who may have given up his whereabouts etc. The new Gaddi Nasheen of that particular astaana along with his entourage, ought to be thoroughly investigated.

ULFA-most of d top leadership killed or surrendered(there was a mil. Op against thn even in there bhutan base),BLT has been subdued(autonomous region provided for thm),NDFB has been divided n weakened(apart from making some noise every now n then, they r insignificant)

been following the india insurgency news/updates thread at all???

insignificant? yeah okay dude, that's what you want the world to believe

NA are disgusting and their actions are depressing
This is what Winning Looks Like?

Indians might feel at home with the Northern alliance scum Americans had to deal with

the recent outcome in Afghan election is very much in our favour....Abdullah Abdullah isnt coming across as hostile to Pakistan, though he does belong to the lot of Tajik warlords and NA. It will be a good coalition govt. (hopefully) with our ally, Mr. Ghani

The NA itself is a blood-sucking organization. Actual enemies of ours but of course that's why indian would rally behind them trying to prop them up (failed policy)

Mr Ghani is your ally :sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::haha::haha::rofl::rofl::D

we see him as friendly....and representative of many Afghans, which is critical - given Pakistan's push to balance Afghan reconciliation with a regime that is 'friendly' and not hostile to Pakistan. This will include governors, ministers, militia leaders and religious figures

we know this new arrangement wont be india's ideal - but that matters little and is utterly irrelevant to both nations as well as the 'external' stakeholders that are scaling down

& the most disturbing aspect of this is that it happened in Sargodha according to this news, had this happened in F.A.T.A or KPK one can understand as the operation's are taking place there, but Sargodha is interior Punjab, & AQ killing a brigadier there, is truly worrisome

Punjab is actually under deep shit. Sooner or later, shit would hit the fan there. It's a matter of time before these Jaish-e-Muhammads, Lashkar-e-Taibas turn against Pakistan.
