AL Govt Asks TATA to Invest in BD

TATA is business conglomerate not Government of India. Just read the title of the post again. BD can approach any non Indian Steel company for investment why TATA ?

You probably do not understand that the GoI is the chief salesperson for TATA.

Thanks for the correct understanding. By the way, the small news item at the head of this thread does not say all the details that I have stated in several posts. TATAs intentions are not at all speculative. It has stated its intentions and I have read these in many news articles when it was bargaining with the GoB during 2005-06.

If TATA is allowed to do what it has been stating all along, then it will just take out our resouces all in the name of FDI. Even if TATA exports steel ingots to countries other than India, then also it weakens our resource base. However, if it exports the finished products (tertiary ones) to any countries, then BD gains tremendously.

EW: Im not challenging your intentions. For any non speculative debate, let us see any referencable quote from the TATA's (or from your government) clearly demarking the intentions.

The point is that TATA's intentions, as listed in this thread appear to be pure speculation (at least from the posted article).

From what i could recollect, they had planned for some 2MT steel factory in BD. As is with any other country, TATA's will be subjected to laws of BD for foreign investments. Why speculate when TATA's themselves have not issued any statement on its BD investment plans?

I belive in international trade. I don't have any issue with trading with India. But my point is when you do a deal you try to get the most that you can. The deal I commented on was passed by BNP and the Caretaking Govt.

Tata on the other hand will try to get the most it can.

You try to find an in-betwen point and deal there.

That is the reality of the world.
