All top tourists summer destinations were part of Muslim empire. Algarve, Costa del sol, marbella, ibiza, minorca and mallorca, so on and so forth.
Europe do not teach their kids about Muslim rule over half of this continent which lasted around 700 years. And here we are teaching our kids how sub continent was ruled by colonials for mere a century.
Arabs were fool though. They didn't impose their language, their culture and sense of inferiority among the local population. Imagine how long is 700 years. And here we in sub continent, those who act like coconuts think highly of themselves. Arabs didn't create mental slaves. Stupid stupid Arabs.
Such a policy would be counterproductive and not in the spirit of Al-Andalus and what made it (back then) one of the most successful and influential societies in the world. Science, philosophy, medicine, poetry etc. developed in Al-Andalus shaped Western/Christian Europe greatly. Al-Andalus was a vibrant society were Muslims, Christians and Jews coexisted and worked together.
It was actually almost 800 years of rule brother. However have in mind that there are very strong Arab influences in Spain and Portugal everywhere you walk. The architecture, language (Arabic has influenced Spanish and Portuguese languages heavily), cuisine, music, culture. Even genetically as proven by modern-day DNA. Modern-day Spaniards and Portuguese have no reason to speak Arabic. They were/are not Arabs but in a way we can say that they have become a part of us on many fronts. Including even when it comes to ancestry but of course that does not change the fact that they are Spaniards and Portuguese.
Take a look at some of the posts that I have posted in this thread and you will see that for yourself, brother.
Regardless of the Spanish Inquisition we Arabs will always have a weakness for Spain and Portugal and they are our most favorite European countries for this reason. This can be seen just by taking a look at football. The Spanish league is by far the most popular football league in the Arab world and people really take the Real Madrid and FC Barcelona rivalry (for instance) seriously. Sometimes even more than locals.
For instance if not for the Spanish Inquisition, Arabic might have been spoken in most of Spain and Portugal to this day and history would have been completely different. If Al-Andalus had lasted another 200 years to celebrate a millennia of presence/rule, all of Latin America might have been speaking Arabic today. Anyway it is not like Arabic is a weak and non-influential language. It is the 4th most spoken language in the world.
BTW Maltese (a Semitic language spoken in Malta) is a descendent of the Arabic dialect spoken in Siciliy.

Anyway history is history. Here in this thread we discuss/talk/post about everything related to Al-Andalus and celebrate its undeniable greatness.
Yes Muslims did incredible things in Al-Andalus.
Its too bad we lost that province.
Only militarily after 800 years of rule. Culturally, linguistically, architecturally, spiritually and in terms of cuisine, we gained another province at least partially. Spain and Portugal does not feel too foreign for Arabs for a reason.
