Musharraf was also negotiating with Baitullah Mehsud and other taliban militants who admittedly ordered suicide bombings and the torture and murders of Pakistan Military personnel.

Releasing someone like Mengal does not seem a travesty in comparison.

Don't get me wrong, I am far from convinced this coalition is going to do a better job than Musharraf, but criticizing the coalition for this action, in the context of Musharraf's actions, seems disingenuous.

Atleast in time of Musharraf ordinary people could eat, look at the food prices now. I know its world wide phenomena; but compared to other countries we are one of the hardest hit

The difference being Baitullah Mehsud could not be killed/arrested. Thats why we NEEDED negotiations. There were conditions. You have to agree or get bombed.

Mengal isn't restricted in the same way. Gillani ordered his release, the court declared him not guilty. His CRIME has been washed. The Pakistani court says hes not guilty. The Pakistani President never said Baitullah is not guilty. It was a deal, do not kill us we won't kill you.

I know these guys would agree to everything at the conference where gillani aims to score big but won't do squat.

Such is the policy of pussyfooting around with the feudal lords. You know what he's going to ask from this "coalition" at the conference? He's going to say "Okay I need these many millions monthly and I'd maintain the peace. I want to lead all the development in Balochistan and not the fed/prov government". The same that all the waderas demanded for so many years before Musharraf. Bugti was gifted Chief Ministership to keep him quiet and he did.

bugti's price was 100 crores / year to keep the peace in baluchistan - what did he do for the development of baluchistan or the baluch people - squat.
expect the same from mengal - the mengals have been against the existence of pakistan as far back as i can remember. 1074 ZAB sent Tikka Khan to quell the mengal rebellion.
