AIR MARSHAL AHMER SHEHZAD LEGHARI APPOINTED AS VICE CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF (VCAS), PAF

. .
does it impact anyone? no...who cares

. . . .
He is great. And I wish he became the actual one. Him or Jawad Saeed. But it is going to be Paracha for CAS.

What happened of ACM Asim Zaheer, has he retired or has been given another appointment?

You may know something which isn't out yet. But I think Paracha sb is very junior for this race. My personal vote would be for Javad Saeed. He was an impeccible officer as a DCS O. He would be an ideal choice for CAS!

Haseeb and Javad are besties anyway. They have had a pretty interesting tenure as sqn cmdr's and flt cmdrs. Their 1 vs 1 in F-16s used to be very brutal too!

Paracha is getting it, don't ask me how but you can win money on it. Heard Jawad was better by miles as a fighter pilot, then again depends on the IP. Jawad also led the first exercise for PAF Vipers overseas.

May be because he knows about the person who ordered not to shoot Indian jets on 27th february.

He does indeed, in fact it is the commander in chief of the Pak armed forces who passed that final order. I wonder where do these ideas come from where every service does whatever they want.

Is it a routine appointment? Didn't see vice chief of Army staff in a while.
VCoAS has been a needs based general staff appointment. A VCoAS is appointed only when the CoAS is too busy to dedicate all of his time to matters of the Army. In Pakistan's history, a VCoAS has been appointed only when the military was running the country. The last VCoAS was Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat under Gen Musharraf.

Under normal circumstanced, the CoAS runs the army.

In the PAF, the VCAS has always been part of the air staff.

True.

Normally Adjutant General and Chief of General Staff are more than enough to run all the pending affairs at the GHQ. CGS is usually quite empowered as compared to any other 3 star may it be Army, Navy or the Air Force.

Don't know, what you have in your mind when you state this sentence.... but surely when air operation is underway, Airforce can't and shouldn't be dictated by ground based individuals on maximum allowed number of (hostile) jets to be shoot and that too right in the moment of heat!
So now what i deduce from your disclosure, if we had different CnC of Pak armed forces, outcome of 27th February would have been different.
Although, nation miss Modi style public permission to Pak armed forces from IK, which made the whole situation confusing.
Now taking this discussion further, you probably remember the statements of ACM from the occasion of 6th September 2019.... where he stated something (without naming any one) ''next time he may fail to obey orders relating to not shooting down hostile fighter jets'' This was the basis of the idea that Airforce was being micromanaged from out side Airforce, hence all the quest to know the name of master mind!
