@Nihonjin1051 It's the Viets who attack other Asians believing for whatever reason that they have some kind of natural right to rule Cambodia and dominate her neighbors. Now Viet is bragging about being able to destroy Taiwan's military (a truly delusional statement). Without this kind of twisted thinking Asia would be a much better place today. Vietnam simply needs to be reminded that it will be punished if they continue to be an unrepentant aggressor.
Pay no need to some of overly nationalistic posts, then. There is no constructive conversation if all people are doing is making empty threats and grandiose military plans (as if we control our nations' armed forces, right? lol).
As for this thread --- sure, China (Taiwan and PRC) , indeed, have the numerical advantage, as well as qualitative advantage. This shear advantage is also poised to be used to address the greater strategic risks. China's massive air fleet (over 800) cannot be magically transported to the south and used solely for pulverizing Southeast Asia. These 800 + units are dispersed throughout China's vast military regions --- to patrol the border areas with Russia, Mongolia, the Koreas, Japan, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and lastly --- in the SCS. The same goes for Taiwan.
Theoretically speaking, and on paper, China wins here , hands down. But the 360 deg reality is much deeper than that. In addition -- ASEAN nations don't really need to maintain such a large air fleet because they are integrating (integrated). As an economic, political, cultural block -- ASEAN. Secondly, ASEAN's relationship with China is growing , as an entity, the bilateral trade between ASEAN and China has already hit $350 Billion in 2014. And that figure will continue to grow.
So , you have to be really optimistic about this. The potential is there.
