Air Force aims higher - Seeks major purchases by 2021

If the LCA is up and running in the next few years, perhaps BD would consider buying a sqaud or two. Who knows? it would certainly be cheap, and given how India is desperate to make its mark in the defense sector I'm sure it'll come with many guarantees. We gave Ecuador a pretty good deal.

I do not represent my govt, but I think BD airforce will not opt for any military hardware or avionics from India. If we are not in a military pact with India to jointly fight against China or Burma, then we are not supposed to make such a purchase from India.

Also, note that even in today's age neighbouring countries are perceived as potential enemies by the military doctrines. How can a country make military hardware purchasing from such a country!

.
Why not purchase the mig-35 equipped with AESA since Bangladesh already has mig-29 , the logistics, training and associated costs would be much less.

I dont think the BAF would go for Mig-35. Rather, they are interested in the Sukhoi and J-10.

Mig-35 would be expensive to buy and maintain. Moreover why do we need air superiority fighters for?Whom are we going to attack? No one.Our policy is defensive and so need to waste taxpayers money on these cool jets.

We need capable interceptors and SAMs for all level protection.Better warning systems,so that we can keep any intruder out of our sky.

If BAF wants to spend some large bucks,it can go for S-300 or S-400 by 2021.

About interceptor,Jf-17 may be a good choice. We shall now wait and see what BAF actually wants, and how much fund Govt. allocates to them.

Mr.Munshi,I hope you won't mind me posting this news on Bangladesh Military thread.

I completely agree with that.

Guys, its simply a question of the most bang for the buck, the LCA has had its fair share of problems, but from what I've read the program has been nudged along with some help. But who knows, I guess time will tell.

BD is adopting a policy of engaging both India and China and I believe in the future both our countries will gradually move towards a US-Canada relationship. We should work closely with each other, especially in matters of defense, this will also help abate some of the mutual suspicion.

From a Bangladeshi perspective, it makes sense to milk both cows (India and China) but I hope that India and BD can build a special relationship, as we should have done already. Not only are we neighbors, we are the same race, we've had the same history, we should be best friends.

My only concern is that the people of the sub-continent were played against each other once before, it is up to us to make sure no one can do it again.

Oh u mean Tejas:rofl:. Is it good than JF-17? Don't make this childish comment and we know which one is good and which is not. Beside that I don't think BAL Govt. wanna loose their neck by purchasing these junk:devil:

What Bangladeshi perspective:angry:Only the flatter of india in Bangladesh will think to milk the indian cow. India is the Fox:agree:. What type of relation u wanna built with us? Your drunk BSF kills our innocent people while your DG visit Bangladesh. Your BSF illegally enters our territory and kills our innocent people and your Govt. do nothing! You entered in our sea illegally and tried to explore. You claimed talpotti while it is in our sea.You want to make our country a desert by Farakka dam. Your ambassador make fun of us so we should be best friend?

Then at first you start that good behave.

. . . .
what if Bangla go for F-22:azn: hahhah then I think it will make a difference.
Depending upon the avionics, an F-22 costs somewhere between US$250 to $350 million. Only countries like usa or japan can afford it. We can build 20 medium/small factories with this kind of money where at least 5,000 people will find jobs. Investment in economy will make real difference in the long run. Thank you for this small joke.

Do not be such sure. Last time during AL time it tried and some of the officers lost there job protesting that. This time the surviving
officers Balls are much soft. Already two side started to make join
exercise. Hasina has to pay them back some how.

AL and India is now testing water for future. India highly recommended the post of COAS to General Shakil and he would be the Army chief if not died in the BDR mutiny.

Hasina is a mindless person:hang2:, she can do any thing. If they do procure some think, they will face more big problem than MiG-29 incident.
The Balls wont be soft for long if condition gets worse.

Forget F-22's, that's old school, how about a Scythe-Class Battle Cruiser!
