Base Commander of Kamra Air Base, Air Commodore Azam Khan was wounded in the fierce and brave fight to defend the base. He received three bullets in his arm and shoulder but continued to fight. He was than driven to the PAC hospital where he just stayed for the time that the bullets were removed from his body and then he returned to the battle ground and lead the operation to its successful completion.

He and his fellow senior officers actually joined the battle with rifles in hand and led the attack on the terrorists. This is true leadership and solid character of PAF officers, MashAllah. It was a heart warming sight that despite the sudden surprise attack and ferocity of the fight, the three top senior officers were fighting on ground like ordinary foot soldiers to defend Pak Sarzameen.

If commanders decide to join the fight themselves just like regular foot soldiers, who will command the battle?

What this gentleman did, is under discussion already.
For sure his actions were unorthodox and may I say uncalled for.

Exhalting "questionable" heroics like this portrays the futile and childish nature that our nation is known for.

It reminds me of Drams Speeches that politicians make, frothing and shouting thier lungs out ....
and an audience under spell.

You have to keep in mind the circumstances in which the commander took the decision. It was a moment to make a split second decision. Whether to sit and assemble the men and risk loosing some prized assets or fight and let the men assemble. he took the second route and it paid. Salute to the soldier. I have no questions on what he did.

For me, that Sepoy did the most commendable job, just imagine if he didn't kill three terrorists and held all of them for 15 mins....the situation might have been entirely different....There should be thread on him too.....

Who was doing Mr. Azam Khan's job while he was doing the job of a foot soldier?

Salute to the brave officer...but the bold part, we dont know how authentic it is.. Whether he fought with rifle in hand, is true or not.. I saw this first posted by Zaid Hamid on fb, and then it was copied by other groups in facebook.. Maybe he was just present there, within the firing range, of terrorists, and guiding his men, how to conduct this operation..but with rifles in hand, its not sure whether its entirely true or not... Whatever the case is.....he was a brave and courageous leader, who led his troops from the front, and deserves our utmost respect and salute...

No body was doing his job, as it was not required at that moment in time. The defence plan was already in place, with three levels of security / defence. The terrorists managed to give element of surprise due to the holy night of ramazan and the time. Only thing required was that "who so ever" can engage them for few minutes until the security system takes control.

I agree the sepoy did an excellent job. Without him, who knows, what would have happened.

I hope you agree that in battle field, there are times when you switch the roles. You cannot let enemy run over your post(s) simply because "it is not my job".

Curiosity killed the Cat, however one must acknowledge your Pakistan obsession, first let me ask you this question, did India stopped functioning when Indra Gandhi was gunned down. ??

What happens when the base commander goes home or say he was on leave and this incident took place.... would his juniors be phoning around the country trying to locate him..... it's a chain of command, he may give instructions others proceed accordingly hence in essence it's all team work and by virtue every member knows what to do and what needs to be done. !!

Al right, let me be blunt, say one of the terrorists rocket hits the base commander's work station and he's severly wounded or even killed.....then what.... who gives the orders or monitors the operation. !!

Sure.. that's a contingency, but actions that increase the probability of that contingency need to be avoided..

One may still die in an car accident, but that does not justify driving at 100mph in a 30 mph zone without seatbelts
