Agni-V next

More than BMD I want Agni V because and its SLBM cousin because it will ensure our deterrence against China.

It wont assure nothing till we make sufficient numbers and put it in service. With our track record, it will take yrs and India' media will detail every ounce of detail as to how many and where it shall be deployed. Once this missile is successful in all parameters, it needs to be inducted quickly. That means more production lines and steps to ensure quality control is damn stringent. No more failures due to sub quality materials sourced from other companies. Proper checks need to be in place.

.
Correct me if wrong :

Nirbhay : subsonic cruise aka Tomahawk class.
Shaurya : Land based K15 counterpart which can be stored in canisters.
K15 : SLBM
Sagarika : K-15 itself or program under which K series have been evisaged.(?)

India has to fit this 5K range Agni V into Arihant's belly to be a credible nation with true second strike capability just like French M51.
Other than that, its just a time pass matter that Chinese might think of Indians.

Arihant will have 12*K15(700km SLBM)
and 4*K4(5000 km SLBM)
6 torpedoes

.
i think 5 to 6 agni 5 missiles will be deployed after they enter service( with single warhead) followed by nearly 10 more MIRVed agni 5s.

Even India has missiles that already cover Pakistan, it should be looking for greater distances....this means subs lurking off the coast of South Africa can take out Pakistan or China from such great distances and still remain safe from counter attacks. India needs to change this mindset that we can put Nuke missile in Northeast India or South India and it will reach all of China. NO! This is a mistake in strategic thinking, India needs strategic depth. So, india should unleash all these shackles and stop conforming to such stupid policies. Stop listening to Babus who have no inkling of war. Let the scientists go as far as they can. Let them imagine and build. You cannot put a wall in front of creativity. India should be focused on parity with countries who have missiles of >10,000 Km

Dude as I said K-series are independent of Agni series, specially for submarines.

How do you think Agni-II Prime gonna fit in any submarine? Not possible.

I just said "my guess is Agni2 Prime is a K series missile tested under agni cover"... no way this missile resembles Agni series

Even now I dont get your post

I agree Shaurya is the land version of the K-15. But the contention is whether K-15 is Sagarika and all sources seem to agree with it.

Can you share the link where the DRDO denied it ?

I think you have read my post with pics of Sagarika and Shaurya launchers. So both are same. While K-15 is reportedly SLBM so there is confusion regarding is it different or same. But DRDO officials denied that Sagarika K-15 and Shaurya are different!!! Thats another confusion. But Sagarika and Saurya is same there is no doubt about that.

Dont worry our offcials are not that stoopid to say the places where these missiles will be stored. Moreover these are canisterized road mobile missiles not stored in silos to pinpoint their location at any given time.

BTW more missile production lines are coming up ( I heard about one in Hyderabad) and an arsenal of about 60 agni 5 s are more than sufficient for deterrence against China.

Good canisterized mobile missiles are effective. But don;t count on Officials though, we can take a look in the past and see how stupid some of them really are.

Mate what you are saying is 180 deg opposite of what DRDO is saying ;

From the same link you gave

According to Indian media reports, although there was speculation that the missile was a land version of the K-15 submarine-launched ballistic missile, which is still in development, DRDO sources were quoted as saying the Shaurya is unrelated to the K-15 Sagarika project.

So basically what all sources agree is that K-15 is the same as Sagarika. While many sources say Shaurya is the land version of Sagarika - some sources quote DRDO officials saying that Sagarika and Shaurya are different.

+1 . Agni series has an altogether different design paradigm. Whereas the K series missiles are more versatile, heavily miniaturized and packs more punch.

I have highlighted this thing b4 in this thread itself

No buddy, K series use universal canisters for launch. Theres no canister in this picture. Agni missiles are longer and cannot use a canister thats why there detection is possible. Land version of K series that is shourya is stored in canisters underground, which is difficult to detetc through statellites. Also its launch signature is reduced by using special techniques that decreases its detection by infrared based detection techniques. The Shaourya also uses miniaturized warheads based on Fusion boosted fission that makes it more deadly.
