It work for sure as it have been more robust, see the complete second stage made up of carbon filament-wound composite, flexible nozzle, improved fibre optic gyro based navigation system and new more maneuverable reentry vehicle etc.

failure is pillar of success. all missiles all over the world failed atleast once! So it is common. :)

The flexible nozzle also used for Agni-III. But the new info is the modified RV is more maneuverable.

Also note that Agni-2P is a finless missile, so suitable for canister launching.

agni 2 is a old missile then why failure ??

I know its modified but again its not a excuse for failure. Just look for PSLV, ISRO modified it every time but PSLV is a milestone success

It is not modified but a complete new missile, everything is different. Look at the first page, it was first test.

the reason for failed missile test is the substandard quality of the material used to make the missiles these missiles are quite advanced and capable and were fine from the drawing board to the first test (Agni 2 tested successfully the first 2-3 times it was test fired in the late 90's and early 2000's) however when you give manufacturing rights to sleazeball companies like BDL who probably use 8pm whiskey for liquid fuel obviously the tests will fail

As the famous saying goes, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"!!

Cheers!

Confusion!!! Some reports saying it is Agni-2P, some saying it is Agni-2! Same confusion like Arudhra radar.

Agni-II ready for testing from Wheeler Island

BALASORE: India is all set to test its 2,000-km range Agni-II missile from Wheeler Island off the Orissa coast next week. The test will be conducted by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian Army.

Defence officials said preparations for the scheduled test are on at the launching complex since the past one week. A team of Army personnel and scores of DRDO scientists are camping here for the crucial test. "Agni-II's user training trial is likely to be conducted any time between August 29 and 30 to give the necessary confidence to the armed forces that the two-stage, solid-fuelled missile can be fired whenever required," said a defence scientist.
