After Rash of Islamist Killings, Bangladesh High Court Considers Eliminating Islam as State Religion

We don't see 170 million dadhi topis alone.

We see half a billion Hindu dadhi topis collectively.

Then we have no more issues between us of illegal migration and we can send 10 million more and settle them in Assam.

. .
We don't have a state religion.

That below is jugglery of words, Burmese style:

The 1947 Constitution states, "The State recognizes the special position of Buddhism as the faith professed by the great majority of the citizens of the Union."

.
wow..I didnt know BDs are so broad minded and pro-secular...It really changed my perception about people of BD....Hats off guys! Unfortunately in my country...the so called biggest secular nation on earth...some people are making fun of pro-secular people and parties!

Yes because seculars have become the synonym of Islamist and commies.

.
We should not give up on our Hindu brothers.

Remove the beard and topi and look behind to see the dharmic blood.
What the eff is "Dharmic blood"? is it saffron? has more plasma?
Before we were hindus, were something else. The only thing that changes is genetics and religion has no part to play in that.
There is no akhand bharat. For very short spans of time the kingdoms of bharat were united and by most measures, the India that you and I live in today is much larger than most ancient kingdoms.
Hinduism has given rise to other religions because of its evils. I respect my culture but do not adhere to the tenants of hinduism and the associated caste-system.
Would you reconvert the Sikhs, Christians, muslims, buddhists jains etc.? Don't you realize that there must be a reason why so many run away from Hinduism?

Before I get blasted for coming of a hindu-hater, I was born a hindu and I am glad to be as I consider the non indoctrination of hinduism most appealing. I would much rather be a hindu or a sikh than be from the Abrahmic religions.

It must really piss off Hindus that our ancestors dumped idol worship and were guided to the straight path.

There all kinds of people mate. It pissed off some hindus the way it pisses off some muslims to know that there is a new sect called the ahmadiya sect. That the Shias dont adhere to Sunnis.

It's human nature to differentiate and consolidate to absorb changes in thought.

So yes. Akhand Bharat is eventually going to happen. Probably in my lifetime.

In which Bollywood fantasy ?

No it's not.. There is no state religion either in Myanmar or Sri Lanka, But Buddhism is given the foremost position because it is the faith of a majority of it's people in both counties.. There is no state patronage it's simple

Let's be clear about one thing.

Pakistan and Bangladesh (as also Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka) are Hindu lands.

Always have been.

I am careful not to include Afghanistan even though they have been Hindu occupied and administered for long.

Ditto for the Western fringes of rump-coalesced civilizational buffer state of Pakistan.

The people of all these lands are of Hindu DNA. Never mind their current ideas and beliefs.

So yes. Akhand Bharat is eventually going to happen. Probably in my lifetime.

None of us are in an identity crisis, as much as you would like to believe

My ancestors abandoned your religion forever, and Hinduism has died a natural death forever in the lands now Pakistan and Bangladesh

Look after the lump of India which remains...in a few centuries even India might not contain Hinduism and Allah will have guided your descendants the same way as our ancestors were guided.

Once India all becomes Muslim we will reunite...us Pakistan, you India and maybe even Bangladesh...your dream of Akhand Bharat will become a reality...this time called Pakistan :pakistan:

Not only do we not have state religion, we also don't have religious political parties. Because letting a 1300 year old book dictate everything from politics, economics, how to eat, sleep, sh** and f*** is silly.

sir , the problem starts when people involve religion in day today life . religion has got nothing to do with material life . i guess the supreme court of Bangladesh actually is trying to address the same so that there is peace and tranquility among our bangladeshi friends . the book is not the problem but people are because they are incapable to understand the essence of the same . i am Santana Dharmi Brahman ( hindu they call us now ) but i respect and love Mohammad saab as much as i love and respect lord Jesus and lord Krishna and almighty Allah (pbuh) and all the super powers as all profess peace and salvation .

Yep. It'd be nice if it happened but I doubt it will. Too many crazy religious nuts in BD.

Awami league doing it all wrong. They are using court to fulfill their political game. If Awami believe that Bangladeshi has become secular and they want no religious influence in state affair then they need to conduct a referendum. However sneaky Awami knows the outcome of asking such absurd question.

This tactic will hunt them down one day. Nothing is permanent and this Awami will exit one day. This same court may declare Awami league a murtid party and they are barred from masjid, and there will be no Namaz e Janza for deceased Awami leader, Hasina is Hindu and so on. Perhaps my though is extreme but could happen. As we say : taffar er badla laath.

Bangladesh's constitution was secular in the first preamble of its constitution. It was amended back in Zia's era to remove it. In another amendment (15th), Bangladesh had already been made secular again way back in 2010
Secularism is back in Bangladesh, rules High Court

Islam was added as a state religion in the late 80's under Ershad. Islam being a state religion doesn't mean anything other than in name. It never had any specific function in a religious or communal sense.

Article 2A: The state religion of the Republic is Islam, but other religions may be practiced in peace and harmony in the Republic.

Ershad was a dictator, and he badly needed some form of sympathy to help him be in power. Most Bangladeshis were, and still are (particularly in rural areas) pious Muslims with limited or no formal education. That was its only function.

It is more of a matter of security than what a country's state religion is. And frankly, the government has not been doing a great job in this sector. Additionally, the law and order situation in the rural areas of Bangladesh isn't very good. It is bad.

There had been atrocities against minorities (particularly Hindus) back in 1971, and it is important that we acknowledge that.

However, simply removing Bangladesh's state religion doesn't necessarily guarantee their safety.

Why do you always have extremist view on Bangladesh? Bangladesh is secular from its conception. Islamic republic of Bangladesh doesn't exist and will not happen ever because the name itself has Hindu origin. East Pakistan was under Islamic republic but Bengalis couldn't live under oppressive Pakistan state because Bengali Muslim culture is amalgamation of Hindu culture with Arabic Islamic culture. More Hindu culture than Islamic hence Bangladesh was created for its unique culture. If you don't like your country Bangladesh then please never come back to Bangladesh because if we know that you are Al-Zakir of PDF all patriotic Bangladeshis incl. Sylhetis will kick you off from Bangladesh. So stay in America, the ideal Islamic country.
