Characterizing NS as a "weak personality" or implying he's stupid would be inaccurate, in my opinion.
Generally speaking, If one is simple minded and does not like to poke his nose matters not concerning him/her then he is likely to be branded stupid, which i believe is the case here. Nobility become so rare it's often confused with weakness. I believe word 'pacifist' describes NS better.
The problem lies with the general mentality of people of South-Asia. They hold high regard for rulers who have aggressive tendencies, are known to produce hawkish statements from time to time and institute policies of escalation, policies which push countries to war. It's unfortunate that such leaders are lionized, deemed fit-to-rule and considered 'strong' in this part of world. Such leaders and their provocative stature, in a way, aligns with one of the most common human proclivity, proclivity that is intrinsic to human nature ; anger and aggression. This is what wins them public approval and admiration.

I am VERY impressed with your post, intellect and comprehension. One of the VERY few posts on here that I've built admiration for. And no, its not because it has NS in it. It's because the post above is speaking the truth and it has a LOT of Wisdom for Pakistan and Pakistanis, should they care to learn from it.
In the context of Pakistan, aka a poor country, what has the Hawkish Generals and aggressive leaders have provided the country in 70 years? The answer is, the country got divided in half, the economy was near collapse and bankrupt just three years ago, the public welfare wasn't paid attention to, no one thought about growing population, need for more electricity and infrastructure, education, flood prevention, roads, highways, mass transit and a stronger, modern and better defense.
Who has actually done stuff that's visible to human eye, the last time and this time? People who are in the power.
When you don't have food to eat in your own house, how can you go and offer food to others? You, yourself have to be strong before making a stand, offering help, support or threatening of an consequences to others. You do not get there with simple aggressiveness, you actually get there with calm head, focused on an agenda and get it done. Once the economic strength comes, the remainder will automatically come.
Take a look at India, these guys till 2010 in any work place was SO humble and down to earth. And now, take a look at their soup-o-powa attitude just on this site. And its the same everywhere else. You can't blame them. They were heads down for two decades and built a huge economy out of it, that now has serious influence on the US. So similarly, this isn't a time for Pakistan to have people who show punches on TV, its time for humble, focused and less aggressive people who have expertise in growing businesses and economy. Not threatening war with a 4 times larger enemy that you can't compete with soldier to soldier, in quantity or in quality. Even the COAS is also humble, both the PM and the COAS are very focused on building a better Pakistan and that's the way to do it. Between both the shariffs, I give them both two thumbs up
.
The entire world knows it that if Pakistan is attacked, like any other country, she'll defend herself to teeth and that can get very ugly for any invading country. So why keep the macho-man talk going, when you can lay low and get more business, grow your middle class and become a stronger economy, resulting in happy and financially stable population and much stronger defense system, with state of the art weapons system and no concerns about sanctions?
