SHABQADAR: The government has launched a verification operation to see if there are any candidates contesting local government elections who may have Pakistani identity cards but are actually Afghan nationals.

An official familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune on Monday the government had received a number of complaints that many aspirants for lower levels of the LG set-up—village and neighbourhood councils—were Afghan nationals.

The government has ordered its intelligence agencies to collect data about all such candidates suspected of not being of Pakistani origin. A copy of the report filed by the agencies would also be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan as well as NADRA. Such candidates may be disqualified even after winning the polls, the official said on condition of anonymity. He further said the investigation was being carried out with NADRA’s assistance.

According to him, if the ID card of a candidate’s blood relative has been blocked by NADRA, that candidate’s name would be added to the list of suspected Afghan nationals. However, if the joint investigation teams investigating thousands of ID cards blocked in K-P have cleared such candidates’ relatives’ cards, the aspirant would be in the clear to contest.

He said the government was taking this action to prevent burdening courts with disqualification suits once such candidates were elected and their disqualification was then sought.

. . .
Pakistan should contain them in selected area like iran did
it was our huge mistake we let them spill in all over Pakistan

There must be a way for those that don't want to go back, to become Pakistani. There are genuinely Afghans that consider Pakistan home, and Afghanistan as a foreign country.

I have never met a pro Pakistani afghan, and I lived in a locality that was starting to get full of them. I wonder where these illusive pro pakistani afghans that some posters here talk about live. Probably in afghanistan?

Who claims them to be pro Pakistani?

.
someone was also claiming that 35000 raw agents live in pakistan and on some other thread one guy atleast claimed that 200000 indians live in pakistan illegally (sleeper cells)

check if some indian raw agent is not contesting elections.

Wrrora I have never met, read or heard of a pro-Pakistan Afghan - They should be sent back !
Brother i know a lot of afghans say shit about Pakistan even after living here for decades but i have met very good ones too who consider themselves Pakistanis too who don't say shit about Pakistan. they probably are very few but there still are some. I have got no idea what else should be done with them, coz if we force them to go to Afghanistan that would be even worse thing to do.

Wrrora, if there are pro-Pakistan Afghans....I am all for them staying in Pakistan as in that case Pakistan belongs as much to them as it does to me.

But because I've yet to see any Afghan who fits that description; I just don't know what opinion to have on this.
