Pakistan which runs the trade surplus with Afghanistan would shoot herself in the foot by bringing trade relations with Afghanistan to screeching halt.

It would be akin to: Aa bail mujhe mar.....

According to bharti logic perhaps. They are shooting themselves in the foot but then again that's often been the case in the past as well. Approx 50% of their exports (excluding illegal narcotics) go to Pakistani market (as per WTO)

Don't know but the custom officers will only stop containers that could hurt Pakistani businessmen as hard as it can.

But my afghan genius how are you going to trade with India via air if the air routes are also closed by Pakistan?

The truth about this container stoppage is that there is a warlord in kandhar whoz now increased his rates to allow the safe passage ..This has nothing to do with afghan government as we all know how much control she exercises on its land. Once the deal is settled with that particular war lord containers will be dispatched. Normally for passage through afghanistan around 2-3 dozens local lords depending on the route needs to bribed to ensure safe passage and this rule is for all except those who have their own armed guards to escort.
Rest its useless to argue with these illiterate aghans on this forum and these dumhead indians...Educated afghans do know what will happen to them if we will stop their food and aid and they are very thankful to us for liberting them from russia( the very ally of this india)...

As for the Narcotics are concerned, they have been going on for ages into Pakistan, and Pakistan supplying the precursors (acetic anhydride) for heroin productions. Why did not the GOP STOP this transaction?

for all those thinking that Pakistan can take the China route to CAR countries and bypass Afganistan...there is one problem...the Karakoram highway is not all weather highway so during winter it has to be closed, and hence the afgan route is essential

Its a win win situation for India you guys are shipping Goods to Afghanistan and literally giving it away fro free as Indian Government is subsidizing Good and freight it to the max.

Since you guys want to trade with Afghanistan so bad that you are giving it away for free. you want Afghanistan so bad here is what i suggest Please feel free to fly all Goods to Afghanistan then you don't need to worry about land routs .

All Goods destined for Afghanistan are taken of ships at Indian Ports from their you load them on air freighter including Indian MFG goods and send them to Afghanistan or have them pick it up like win win situation for India And Afghanistan.

I am willing to digest the losses to make India Happy.

Here is what we get Billion in taxation lost due to smuggled Goods 1000s of Trucking jobs back into the hands of pakistanis.

Every day goods including basic necessities of life start to come back into pakistani markets instead of being smuggled across the border bringing prices back to Affordable levels where they should be.

Since No trucks from Afghanistan will be coming into pakistan all drugs and weapons smuggling almost gone friendly suicide bombers and fundo terrorist gone.

Please feel free to take that cake away from us
