Afghans in Punjab: 'The police are a little confused'

I was talking about the Afghan refugees in Punjab. I wonder if they retain Dari. I think they are less intergrated than the Afghan Pashtun refugees?

There are reports of afghani hazaras living with Pakistani hazaras in Quetta. Many of them likely got CNIC that way. There are also communities of Afghani uzbeks in Karachi and Balochistan at least. But 90% afghanis in Pakistan are pakhtuns because they can blend in better then others. In punjab likely not many.

Time for the Afghans to have some dignity and leave voluntarily. Afghans are the most unwanted people.

We, the Pakistani Pakhtun can easily differentiate between us and them. We should help the local community in identifying Afghan Pashtun.

This article mentions Turkmen Afghans as well. Does anyone know what percentage or number of non-Pashtun Afghans (Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras etc.) are in Punjab?

Not many in Punjab. Most Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazarawal and the likes are scattered across KPK and Balochistan.

Those Afghans who are born in Pakistan and are loyal to Pakistan should be given full rights and Pakistani citizenship. Stop with this hate please, also how are all Afghan terrorists? What about Punjabi Taliban and Lashkere Jhangvi etc? These guys are literally untouched. Stop this double standards or we will never be able to defeat terrorism in Pakistan.

I think you meant Hazara not Hazarewal

Hazara indeed.

There are no loyal Afghans. I'm sorry.

Also, we didn't take in Afghan refugees to house them permanently. It is time to leave.

We will defeat terrorism. I'll tell you how. Repatriate all Afghans.

India, the US and all other countries which claim to have liberated Afghans from tyranny are free to take in as many of their Afghan brothers and sisters as they like. We are done playing the Good Samaritan. Pakistan has only suffered at the hands of Afghan enemy.

Sir the decision should be mostly up to Pashtuns, true pashtuns unlike wannabe ones like me as most afghans come to KPK and the ones with criminal mindsets FATA too. Infact there are forts in FATA owned by Afghans. I do hope there is some solution to the Pakistan Afghan hostility but most of the hostility ccomes from Afghanistan. When writing my book about pashtuns I witnessed it firsthand. I went to their forums with a lot of respect for all Afghans and extra for pashtuns of course, I came back dejected, forlorn and very anti afghan. Anyone would be towards people who want to break my nation.

Let me note here I am not an opponent on immigration but my opposition to some Afghans entering is purely based on the Afghans I have been in contact with, none of whom have a positive image of Pakistan.

There are some racist attitudes towards immigration all over the world including with what is happening in America and it takes time for people to see the bigger picture but there are societies where immigration has been well managed. For example I know Canada has a shortage of doctors and engineers. So a person from these fields seems to be more likely to gain their citizenship, atleast thats what we noticed anyway. So if Pakistan has a shortage of uni grads (6%-10% of our total population only) then why not try to improve the economy and higher education standards by allowing those with such qualifications in?

For Pakistanis, us Pakistanis to see the bigger picture it will require time but the foreign nations are an example. Even Zaire gives citizenship to Pakistanis and Indians who are generally rich. I have heard of such cases.

Also if I haven't mentioned it before I was born in Islamabad to parents who were born in Lucknow and surrounding parts. I am a staunch Pakistani today. Usually it takes time for foreigners to merge within the national fabric even after gaining citizenship but it is worth it if these foreigners are managed and in the long term. With Afghans I would be a joker if I said the process has been well managed-letting in poor Afghans we could barely manage. But whats wrong with having uni grads, well educated people as Pakistani citizens? As the article suggests there are some such people who are also patriotic due to the local education/naturalization process. They could be the vanguard for something bigger. Perhaps the merger of Afghanistan. That country will be a pain in the *** for us for eternity if not checked. They already don't accept the durand line and believe me its 90% of the pashtuns there with such a view.

Movement of humans from one part to another is a fact of life today. Look at Australia, Canada and other countries even UAE which does not give citizenship but is a vibrant economy. How many of us are sitting away from our countries enjoying the fruits of immigration today. I think the process should be improved for immigration in Pakistan. Should we reject each and every applicant though? No. Do background research, note the skills, talents and education of the applicant, judge them for their ability to assimilate, then if a person gets accepted what is the problem. Lets not be like Trump. If the world worked that way many of us would be in different parts of the world today. From the birth of homo sapiens we have been moving. From Africa to Middle east to europe, to china to india indus wherever. It is the human way.

You all know my feelings towards any nation that doesn't the territorial boundaries of Pakistan but I don't want us to lose our humanity while trying to root out inhumane terrorists. Let those Afghans who have lived here peacefully and are not involved in any criminal activities stay.

Lets not tar the whole Afghan community with the single brush. Yes, those who are here illegally and those who are found in anyway linked to terrorism or crime should be punished and then deported. Labelling the whole Afghan community as terrorist or criminal is a gross injustice. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Pakistan can sustain the numbers of Afghan in Pakistan at its current levels, but cooler heads should prevail, our security should be as important as our humanity.

.
I would say people who have born here in Pak sud get some relief but at the same time no country is tolerating any illegals either it's arab north American Europe Australia why sud Pakistan. American have been brutal what we asking afghani to go back where their gov so much hate us like they living in paradise who they are so proud of, if it is then why refugees are here they sud sent back to their land so their gov sud get some taste of hateism.
Or send these afghani to India who are in love of Kabul gov.

Afghans are a savage bunch. Look at the state of their own country. They don't get along in their own country. War and bloodshed is the only language an Afghan understands. There is no hope. Pakistan should stop wasting its precious time and energy. We have tried our best.

Enough of this BS. Afghans not only hate Pakistan, but also resort to terror activities to kill our children. There can't be no reasoning with such barbarians. Barbarians don't understand the language of peace. Afghanistan is a cursed land that can never find peace and stability.

Pakistanis have looked after these brutes for more than 30 years. All we got in return is hatred, opium and violence. Today they are attacking our children. I'm not going to show any mercy for such a brute enemy.

Keep the border closed. Repatriate all Afghans in Pakistan. Period. Otherwise, we will also continue to suffer. I'm glad that Pakistan is dealing with Afghans the way they deserve to be dealt with.

This is exactly what is needed. Pakistani Pukhtoons should educate their non-Pukhtoon compatriots on how to identify Afghans Pukhtoons. This way less Pakistani Pukhtoons will be affected.

Are you able to give some pointers to me over this forum on how to? I know it may be a limited way but still something is better than nothing. Generally Afghans are lighter right (but that is not great since some Pakistanis are also light).
Is there a indirect question that I could ask a Pukhtoon to determine if he is Afghan or Pakistan?

Pakistan should not tolerate a people from a nation which has been hostile to her from 1947. It is a demographic blunder irrespective of the criminal/terrorist threat.

Lol, phenotypically you cannot tell a Pak Pashtun and an Afghan Pashtun apart. The Mongoloid ones like Uzbek, Hazara, Turkmens and some Tajiks can be.

That is why I asked for something like an indirect question or something else non physical.
