Afghanistan: Why Turkey wants to partner with Hungary to protect Kabul airport

Gents, I think there is more to it that meets the eye. Please watch this news item. Will answer a lot of question.

The issue is not Turkey presence in Afghanistan, rather the NATO flag that it might be under. I sense there is something going on at the background with Chinese pulling the strings, which I am ok with.

Hungary has been a Turkish ally, somewhat. The reason Turkey is asking for Hungarian help is because they're close diplomatically, and because they have more experience in Afghanistan than Turkey.

This has nothing to do with China. This has everything to do with NATO. NATO knows Turkey has good diplomatic relations with Pakistan, wants to exploit that, and is probably pushing Turkey to become the neutral military presence at Kabul airport.

Kabul Airport is very important for NATO. It's a civilian airport with the most developed infrastructure in Afghanistan. So it cannot be shut down as part of the deal and it has good capacity to handle military logistics.

Should things go south, NATO wants to keep a door open to land back in Afghanistan. If they don't have Kabul airport, their only entry back into Afghanistan will be through Pakistan, and we don't want to be on the receiving end of that pressure.

If NATO, Pakistan can hold and keep secure, neutral control of the airport, it's in our i interests. We don't want them to come back but to ensure that the Afghan Taliban must work together in an all-inclusive Afghan only government, so this airport will be a deterrent for militant takeover by the Afghan Taliban. If we don't have the airport, Afghan Taliban might resort to militant takeover prompting NATO pressure on Pakistan to provide a passage. In such a case, if we don't, we lose... and if we do, we still lose as we could find a new enemy on the west.

Don't repeat this mistake from the start of the War on Terror.

The Western men get to see their women cucked by Africans on excuse of equality. Now people want our women cucked on the excuse of Islam.
This is not rocket science. You just reverse back to 1840s before East India Company invaded the Indus Region. What existed there? All of Pak Punjab, most of KPK was under Sikh Raj ruled from Lahore. The lower Indus Region or Sindh was a kingdom ruled by Mirs of Talpur. Balochistan was lots of tiny Khanates or emirates.

So if East India Company had stayed east of Sutlej Pakistan as it is would have never emerged. Simple fact.

And before Sikhs, Durrani was there. Point being that sequence of events did lead to Pakistan. But Pakistan's existence is because the 4 provinces were majority Muslim.

I fail to understand how having airport in middle of a city which might already be in Taliban control will give any advantage to NATO? Even in worst case scenario, who would want to land in an airport with enemy entrenched all around it?

If surviving extreme conditions can be termed victory then rats are life's winners too.

I find it strange how people romanticise the Afghans - Muslim heroes even. Other than fighting (and opium) they have not contributed anything to Muslims or to the world.

Are we supposed to look upto these people as an example.?

They didnt just survive, they fought against a military power that no nation on earth dared to confront. When every nation acted like coward rats n hid in their holes, these mountain dwellers told them its not about military and financial and technological might but emaan and the will of Allah. People like u laughed and gave them weeks or months at most yet after 20 years the so called super power is running away, like a rat, even nations are begging the super power to stay but its in super hurry to leave. The taliban are taking city after city with a morale as high as the sky, even after 2 decades of war.
As far as contribution to muslim world, when have they been let to live in peace? One after another super power tries to subdue them and fails. If nothing atleast they have contributed to our imaan, proving to all muslims that u dont need to be super rich to be able to fight and win, proved that u dont need to be bit**** of west or hindu to survive. By the way what have u or other muslim countries contributed? All u ppl have done is serve ur white masters.

Ever heard of Vietnam? Are you proud of them too. Or the Syrians for that matter?? Don't romanticise to the point of idiocy.

USA traveling 12000 miles to completely destroy your country is not a victory. Yes they left with nothing. Everyone lost out - the original Taliban, OBL are all dead - a bit of diplomacy at the beginning by the Taliban would've saved everyone 20 years of death. People who idolise these guys, have serious self esteem issues.

1. Turkey has no business to be in Afghanistan, the same way it has no business to be in Libya, Iraq nor Syria.

2. Turkey is a member of the Zionist-West's NATO, an armed gang who have waged war on Muslim countries, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan.

3. Turkey went into Libya under the guise of infrastructure development projects in 2011. In the next three years that followed, it was the instigator of arming groups to insurrection against the Libyan Government, at the behest of the West who wanted Qaddafi removed from power.

4. Turkish presence in Afghanistan, is a pretext to using Afghan territory to arm Uyghurs and other Turkic race nations like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan against China.

5. Turkey has no sincerity or loyalty toward Islam. If Turkey is sincere toward Islam, then it must declare it's complete withdrawal from NATO.

Pakistan would naive and stupid to support Turkey in Afghanistan. Pakistan must ensure that it's policy toward Turkey is one of checks and balances, not of blind friendship.

Those who support Turkey blindly, are ignorant and have zero clue about the transformation taking place in the geo-politics of the world.

Vietnam was openly helped by USSR and taliban had no significant help. You obviously dont know about anything, how was diplomacy possible when the US went on with military operations within weeks? They went in arrogantly and got embarrassed now. People like u can make it look not so bad for ur masters but reality cant be hidden. People who ideololize cowardice are suffering from inferiority complex, typical with ex slaves who now serve their masters.

Which is why they want neutral control of the airport. NATO took control of many important airstrips in cities controlled by Taliban, and to do so they preceded it with airstrikes then droppef in special forces.

Makes zero sense because those central asian Turkic states have strict policies of neutrality. They have no interests in China.

I thought maybe they intend on carving out a Turkic state from Afghanistan but now that it's clear they want the airport, I have zero doubt that it's the NATO asking Turkey to step up for it and trying to exploit the diplomatic relations between Turkey and Pakistan.

You are talking about past where NATO was barging into Afghanistan with full force. Today, they are leaving, and wont have that luxury of airstrikes and special forces. In both scenarios, political settlement and military solutions, Taliban will be inside Kabul. So for future, if NATO wants a quick entry at Kabul airport to cover a bad situation (whatever it might be), you are looking at Taliban forces already entrenched into Kabul with airport always in cross hairs. Pakistan has already pulled the plug on CIA bases and there wont be any ALOCs and GLOCs once withdrawal is completed and verified.

Pakistan need to tread carefully with Erdogan and look after her own interest and right now its not in Pakistan's interest to send forces to Kabul because once you get involved then you keep digging deeper and deeper. I have faith in Imran and I don't think he will go for it

Here we go with the name calling. Your childish, wide eyed view of your heroes is laughable.

Because they live brutally in a lawless place, to your minds they are heroic. Afghans live all over the UK now and guess what, they tow the line like the rest of civilised society.

I have no problem with Afghans but for a modern person on the internet to imagine the Taliban as a success story is hilarious. After 5000 years they did not learn how to create a working society.

Their country is ruined - the Taliban should have figured out how to defuse USA before war - That's the difference in having leaders of a country rather than ideological fools - who managed to get themselves killed anyway.

Ps. Why should I hide US embarrassment - they ran from the Vietcong, they lost in Syria, they even got battered by Somalians in Mogadishu. The point is, why do naive people like you have to paint these people as some sort of ideal?

FYI Vietcong had as much backing from USSR as Taliban gets from Muslims countries. It was the same guerilla tactics, basic weapons and harsh terrain that did it for both.
