Afghanistan wants reopening of border with Pakistan: envoy

Not to mention the fact that in Iran, Afghans CANNOT marry Iranian girls. Even Pakistanis in Iran are not subjected to this treatment or restrictions. I completely agree with you in that the Iranians understand Afghan people FAR better than we do. Us Pakistanis are far too soft and kind-hearted. Perhaps it's about time us Pakistanis should learn from the Iranians and start defending our nation ruthlessly and start treating the Afghans the same way the Iranians do.

You are absolutely right-I remember having a conversation with an iranian friend and asking how iran has none of the problems pakistan has with afghanistan despite also sharing common culture and long border. I remember him saying Iran knows afghanistan very well even better than pakistan in fact and that Iran is a civilised nation and who knows the tribal nature of the afghans and the gun and drug culture they will bring so they have always kept them out and secured their borders for the most part and the ones that are already in Iran are very restricted and controlled while Pakistanis was dumb for being a lackey and opening their borders letting so many afghans as well as jihadi militants from all over the world and is now suffering the problems.

@khanz

Iran, Central Asian states have had totalitarian systems. India, Pak, Bangladesh even Malaysia have lax regulations laid back and open societies. Its the another threat, the threat within. Number One Pak national media is a soldout and continues to ignore Afghan hatred against Pakistan as their US masters don't want this coverage as they are using it in Afghanistan for their own interests. PAk media will never report on this that has allowed PAkistani citizens to remain blind to the threats from western border.
Number 2 are the PAk bureaucracy, ready to give them passports, id cards to travel abroad or work inside PAkistan 'legally' for a sum of money selling and endangering the whole country. This is why Kuwait banned Pakistanis the human smuggling racket that is spreadacross foreign service. Regularly PAk embassy officials are busted for selling Pak passports to afghans in europe, north America and Asia. Affecting PAk nationals also apart from the image and terrorism issue.

Yes Pakistan really needs to sort it's people out but still I don't understand where the hates comes from I know we did terrible things and made many mistakes but despite that even syrians don't hate turks that much (and turkey has actually tried to overthrow syrian government) I have even seen afghans advocate genocide against pakistan . The only thing I can think of it must be jealousy the people they once went to loot and plundered at will they are now reliant on and despite all of it's issues pakistan is the stronger power while their nation is a failed state at the bottom of everything and their ego is hurt. Thank god for the Sikh empire who drove these barbarians out of Lahore I am grateful to them-I guess it could be why the afghans have a fixation with punjabis lol

Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal on Thursday called for reopening of the border that Pakistan closed a week ago due to a series of terrorist attacks that killed over 100 people in Pakistan.

Pakistan says that it has closed the border over "security concerns" as those who claimed last week attacks were "from the Afghan side of the border." However, Afghanistan denies the statements.

"As part of the quick de-escalation of the prevailing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan, as agreed in our talks with the relevant Pak authorities a couple of days ago, Torkharm, Spin Boldak and other crossing points should have reopened by now, but unfortunately still remain shut," Zakhilwal said in a statement.

"In fact, formal trade and transit crossing points between our two countries, under no circumstances, should have been closed in the first place, both as per Afghanistan-Pakistan Trade and Transit Agreement and also Afghanistan's land-locked country transit right as per international rules," the Afghan envoy said in the statement which was posted on his official Twitter and Facebook pages.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Nafees Zakaria has said that a decision regarding opening of Pak-Afghan border will be taken in due course of time.

"Pakistan has continued to maintain and emphasize that effective border management is vital for preventing cross border movement of terrorists. Pakistan is ready to work with Afghanistan on those issues in a spirit of mutual respect, trust and cooperation," the spokesman said at his weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The spokesman said issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan need to be addressed through constructive and positive engagements. Endit

Afghans are tribal people and only understand force war is part of their history and culture- Iranians have been deporting afghans from the start -they are nationalists and proud of their ancient culture and they are much smarter and educated than pakistanis and do what it takes to keep their country secure and they are not afraid of anyone and not afraid to show force if needed unlike pakistan and they have always kept afghans at bay they nearly went to war with afghanistan when their diplomats were executed by the taliban-Pakistan would never have the balls to do something like that.
that is a model we ought to follow these afghans only understand harsh reality.
