Afghanistan to sign its first strategic partnership agreement with India

I guess he probably meant building a base like we did for Tajikistan .

Then I guess we rather build them a terminal. It would be of far greater use to them than an airforce base...it can be for dual purpose. The Americans will help them build their defences...we just need to concentrate on making sure that their trade routes are secure and they can do 'business'. That way they can have their pockets filled. We must have long term goals...not short term which will be taken care of the UN, NATO and the ISAF.

Afghanistan --> Iran --> India

Is that a feasible trade route?

Yep....Hope Iran had made peace with America. We could have sidelined Pakistan easily. Teheran missed the whole train in it. And above all the whole NATO supplies would have passed along the south western part which is in control of the Northern Alliance and ISAF.

Please tell where India comes into the equation?- and whats the importance if you are skipping borders like this- involve china- its a bigger regional player than india- from people like you- your ancestors would be really ashamed-
Actually his ancestors would be very ashamed seeing what you guys who were considered as close freinds have done to Afghanistan.

Protect their trade routes from whom ? I thought that Afghanistan imports almost all commodities from Iran and Pakistan ... Whom would it need protection from ? :undecided:

Just looking at the World Atlas would tell you , No its not !

Eh! from terrorists of course...who else...would you want your exports stolen half way?

The situation was only made by the Afghans, don't blame others for your failures. How did Pakistan or anyone else make the US attack Afghanistan on 9/11?

You may think they've done a lot, but to most Afghans, they've done a lot of other stuff:

http://www.defence.pk/forums/world-...ans-also-protesting-american-air-strikes.html

Things in Afghanistan are headed to be worse than what they were in the 90s, the Karzai government has little legitimacy in the eyes of the Afghan people, & is seen as a puppet regime propped up by the US, seen by the Afghan people as invaders & intruders. More than 75% of Afghanistan is controlled by the Taliban. Go to the above link, & see w
hat the Afghan people think of the US in their country.

yaar pehle apne desh ko sambhalo ! karachi me khule-aam katl ho rahe hain and you are talking about afganistan...pehle apne gireban mein jhankiye janaab...

Good step.

Its Afghanistan's sovereign right to decide whom it should have ties with and with whom it should do first.

Others should not decide what is good for the Afghans using fancy terms like 'regional stability' etc.

There is no written rule that countries should sign strategic agreements only with neighbours (albeit a bit bullying) and not with non-neighbours(albeit well-wishers).

Gratz to the Afghans

This map was in 2009, the Taliban have gotten stronger, regained most of the areas they lost & pushing harder to gain others. The 30k troops sent have also been pulled out, & it's not looking too good for the present regime in Afghanistan.

Thn by your logic!

If Afghanis will decide then no need of Indians in Afghanistan because Taliban controlled Afghanistan 80% of area and talibans support Pakistan not INDIA nor AMERICA! lol @ your theory!

But Talibans are terrorists.. And Pakistani proxies.. So by THAT logic, they dont speak for Afghanistan. Just like TTP who controls/controlled large parts of Pakistan does/did not speak for those provinces in Pakistan..Sorry..Wrong Logic

Good step but it will be voided if Taliban take over. India better get involved or the same scenario will repeat as before...
