The first of 20 armed MD 530F to be fitted with the Mission Equipment Package (MEP) began arriving in March 2015. This MEP comprises the FN Herstal 12.7 mm Heavy Machine Gun Pod (HMP), upgraded communications equipment, fuel systems, and ballistic protection for the crew. In July 2015 it was announced that all of the AAF's helicopters would be fitted with the new Enhanced-MEP (EMEP), which saw the addition of a 70 mm rocket capability to the baseline MEP, including the fitting of a fixed forward-sighting system.

Why now small aircraft for Afghanistan? Like second hand f16s should be a good start . Afghanistan should get enough funding for air to ground attack

proof? links? if this is an opinion - please say so . else back it up with proof. thank you.

link what ? how ? do you want me to pin point each US base From google map ? if i recall US killed bin laden back in 2011 and then in 2014 Obama removed some 5000 troops from Afghanistan claiming war is over. yet their still are about 800-1000 Us military personnel on duty in the region and still carry out drone attacks from the US military basses . the same basses which will be used if in case a war takes place between US and Russia.

no . just a link or source that says that Afg is protecting US's poppy fields

Hopefully the Talis and the Afghan government will come to an agreement so we can concentrate on rebuilding the country rather than focusing on security and wasting resources there. Without security, there can't be any progress.
The USA/NATO should move their bases to Uzbekistan/Tajikistan (not sure Russia will like this) close to the Afghan border and move their troops there. If there is any attempt of Taliban takeover they will be close enough. Without US/NATO withdrawal, the Talis will never come to negotiating table. The Afghan government is probably thinking the Talis will eventually lose steam and the movement will dissolve in a few years if they kill enough of them. Let's see which approach works best.

As you can see from my profile that i am a new member therefore i can not post any links or sources however if you google the increase in growth rate in opium and poppy fields from 2001 you will find out that opium production is at all time high never in country history has the opium fields been cultivated and produced as they have been today . Wasn't one of main promises of the Nato/Us invasion was that "Making Afghanistan a better democratic country" ? does having more opium fields then tomatoes and potatoes is what its called to be a "Better country" ?

The CIA and FBI love their regulated drugs. They push it into the United States under their own conditions.

Hi there.

As a Pashtun Afghan who has relatives all over Afghanistan. I know for a fact that the so called tribesmen do not support either Taliban or the Afghan government/NATO. Of course there are people who support one of the other depending on where their interests and allegiances lie. But the majority, They just want a government which can provide justice/security/jobs/ health etc as everywhere else. The Taliban/so called mujahideen are using Islam to get power and impose their own version of religion on majority Afghans who are not deobandi/Salafi but simple Hanfi sunnis with sufi/dervish put into the mix. The NATO/Afghan puppet government uses democracy for their goals. The Afghan people are caught between a rock and a hard place. Afghanistan is not ready for democracy not does democracy in the western sense suit Afghanistan.

It seems like the society in Afghanistan is very polarized. I wish the best and give dua for Afghanistan my friend.

But I don't think that Afghanistan has any interests in being anti-Pakistan. Obviously, we are in this mess together. We should work together.

I cannot see this happening with India or Iran being in the picture.

It is not polarised as such because as I mentioned before Afghan want the same things all other muslims/humans in the region want. In Afghanistan's case it has been through a 35 year period of war/instability which means things are not as straight forward as everywhere else where there has been relative peace. Thanks for the duas, same goes your country.

Afghan and Pakistani people are very close to each other, I would say to Pashtuns of Afghanistan, Pakistanis are the closest people because of the Pashtun connection and also religious and cultural factors so of course we are in it together and hopefully our governments can implement the will of our people.

Pakistan will not change it's policy unless India and Iran are dropped.

In my opinion, Pakistan and Afghanistan should build a relationship without outside interference for 10 years. After the trust is built, Afghanistan can trade with whoever they like, without a threat for/from Pakistan. I see this as a way forward.
