Afghanistan could be very democratic and liberal country, just only need to remove war clouds from them and there is always hope for best for them. And we hope returning of peace & progress for Afghanistan.

Highly doubtful that both photos are same!

You might be right or worng this specific photo, but believe me, this war has had a real devastating impact on us. There might not be internet photos, but we do see devastation in our eyes over there.

The two photos are not the same,as there are no mountains in the background. But what ahmad said is correct, war did bring much devastation to afghanistan

Could be hidden by trees. And you can't really compare the photo quality/clarity/range of camera from 1960's to modern digital cameras.

Famous Amir Abdul Rahman Khan who gave away NWFP to the british.

afghanistan has a long and bloody history
alexander the great, ghenghis khan, british empire, soviet union, taliban and now the US

Ahmed while I know afghans sentiments but it does not matter any more be grateful for what you have, the now Afghanistan is in ruins any other extra land would have had the same fate. Many of Muslim majority lands were never divided never allotted to Pakistan, hindustan consumed it under british raj, but we are grateful and love what we have is enough.
