Are there club level cricket grounds in Afghanistan ?

Pakistani cricketers recently participated in the Afghan version of the IPL called Shpageeza in Kabul. The Kabul stadium is called international but I am not sure it is up to international standards. Here is a report from Al Jazeera

There are also two stadiums already built in nangarhar and Khost and the rest are being built in Paktia, kandahar, kunduz etc. Bearing in mind cricket is not that popular among non Pashtuns.

Even though Afghanistan won, we were lucky at the end because we have no clue on how to close down matches.
We are no where near test status and Bangladesh is a far better team than us. We have the talent but just need 5-10 years of experience at the highest level to be a really competitive side against test playing nations.

I agree that Bangladesh should have done better but to suggest we are on par with Bangladesh is getting ahead of ourselves and not being realistic. We have done very well in terms of bowling and fielding and out played Bangladesh so far but Bangladesh haven't played ODIs for 11 months so they are a bit rusty and we can't draw any conclusions about their ability. They beat Australia, India and Pakistan back to back in ODIs in Dhaka last year. Anyways, thanks for the encouragement.

Afghanistan beats Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI in Dhaka, they held their nerves and go the better of latter.

The nearly did the same to Bangladesh in the first ODI.

How do you guys see the Afghan cricket team in the next 5 years? I think with the process they are making they are going to be another cricketing power in the region.

I Afghanistan also won the first match the series would have been ours now. Choked in first game and almost bottled this one as well. So happy we won.

The team looks good at this stage of our progress. We need to get rid of Mangal. He never ever performed against the big team. Stanikzai is also crap, but at least he scored against test nations when needed the most.

Rehmat and Hashmat need time at 3-4.

We have good batters to replace Asghar at 5. There is Nasir Jamal and few others.

Nabi is fine at 6. Quality player.

Najib at 7 need to be more consistent.

Rashid is world class at 8.

Mirwais has served Afghan cricket very well and still going strong, but you can see he aged and got a little fat. Need to groom another youngster instead of him.

Dowlat is good at 10.


Naveen is very young, but he don't look in same league as Shapoor and Hamid Hassan. Hope he can improve. I don't like his action

Btw I look forward to see a guy called Mujeeb. He was very impressive in the Shpageeza tournament. He is young mystery spinner. Will probably play for u.19 team first.
