Article on HPost here, excerpts below:

Afghanistan, also known as the crossroads of civilization dating back centuries, has found itself on a different crossroad in the past few decades. This time around, however, it has been very deadly and destructive for Afghanistan and its inhabitants. Afghanistan’s geographical situation in south central Asia as a land locked country is partially responsible for its woes. It can be viewed as a corridor connecting south Asia to central Asia and west Asia to east Asia.

...

The animosity between Pakistan and India has created an atmosphere of complete distrust adversely affecting Afghanistan. Any move by either country is deemed suspicious by the other, requiring a response to counter it. This tit for tat policy seems to be spiraling out of control with no end in sight in the near future.

...

.
It is the sellout Afghan govt consisting of Northern Alliance goons who have destroyed the enslaved Afghanistan..Afghanistan is under occupation from foreign western forces...and it has become a hub of all international terror organistions under the eyes of Afghan govt.

Anyway:

Pakistan’s interests in Afghanistan:

1. Limit and lessen India’s sphere of influence in Kabul.

2. Keep India from establishing a closer relationship with Afghanistan, which could in the long run encircle Pakistan and weaken the Pakistani central government in Islamabad.

3. Promote and finance the Haqqani network and Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan to conduct attacks on Indian interests in Kabul. For instance, the Indian embassy in Kabul was attacked twice in 2008 and 2009 and the ISI was rumored to be behind the attacks.

4. Extend Pakistan and Islam influence towards Central Asian republics.

5. Establish economic relations with the oil-rich states of Central Asia by financing a government in Kabul that favors Pakistani interests.

6. Contain the neighboring states from projecting their sphere of influence into Afghanistan.

7. Make sure Pakistan plays an important role in the Afghan peace process, particularly in any post-2014 negotiations with the Taliban. For instance, Pakistan supported the idea of creating a Taliban office in Qatar, Doha in-order to maintain the presence of Taliban in Afghan politics after the NATO withdrawal.

India’s interests in Afghanistan:

1. Keep Afghanistan from being used as a base for Pakistan to train and coordinate terror attacks against Indian cities.

2. Weaken and limit Pakistani and Taliban/Pashtun influence over Afghan politics.

3. Establish a network to access oil-rich regions of Central Asia via Afghanistan for pipeline projects and assure energy security.

4. India is seeking great power status, thus the Indian government should foster its sphere of influence across South Asia to promote regional stability.

5. Maintain a certain level of political influence in Afghan politics.

6. Deliver financial aid in order to maintain some sort of economic influence over the Afghan economy.

Do you still think Pakistan has tried all the steps that has been outlined in your wishlist for Pakistan???
Pakistan has times in 1990 when Afgan war was going on...Since 2001, the next generation Afgan war is already created impression in the mind of Afgans that Pakistan is basically anti Afganistan...India simply has to play around with the victim good game in Afghanistan..The more and more India is attacked in Afganistan, India will gain upper hand in the mind of ordinary people...India will say, we are trying to help the orignary people of Afganistan by building roads and Hospitals but Pakistan does not like progress of Afganistan in a positive way...

Again, I would love to see Pakistan follow your suggested approch and keep on attacking India in Afgainstan...this will increase the soft power image in a more and more each day..

Precisely the point. Hard for folks with thick skulls to get through them.

Our hospitality was returned with bombs and drugs but if your government knows the value of friendship with Afghanistan please feel free to take refugees

Shows how ignorant you are of the greater scheme of things.

Do you know Dara? The biggest drugs and gun market in the world, run by who? Pakistanis of course. You guys have neglected Fata for decades, used its people as foot soldiers for Punjab and radicalized your people, of course it will have consequences. Instead of investing in education, you have invested in madrassas such as the Haqqania, a world renwoed training center for Talis etc.

In case you are looking for sources, please read the following as I am sure you will have issues with Hussain Haqqani, Christian Fair and Carlotta Gall

Sometimes its best to look in the mirror, blaming all your ills on Afghans and for that matter Afghans blaming Pakistanis for all their ills helps no one.

I guess you should read how India is being hated in Srilanka, Nepal and Kashmir because of the exact policy they followed that of Pakistan. Why India did that ? Because they have a direct interest in srilanka due to same ethnicity residing in India and Srilanka. WHile Pakistan helped Srilanka in their fight against Tamil tigers and Pakistan has a very postitive image in Srilanka and held in esteem by Sinhalese. The recent news coming out of Srilanka is India is directly applying pressure on Srilnaka not to buy fighter jets from Pakistan.

So What I'm trying to say is, The direct party invovled in the conflicts with broder areas attached or the ethnicity being residing on both sides whereby one party has a upper hand in the situation will always be hated by the lesser party. Lesser party will always try to take help of the adversary of upper party and upper party will hurt lesser party through indirect means. If Lesser keep fingering the upper party, Lesser party will continue to suffer for prolonged durations. Give me one example from recent conflicts or history where this has not happened. !

So it is not about the thick skulls. It is about the analyzing the bigger picture instead of indulging in Anti Pakistani rehtorics.

Instead of scapegoating Pakistan, please focus on improving the training and professionalism in ANA. The answer lies in the vice documentary "this is winning looks like", when an American soldier says "working with child molesters day in and day out wears on you after a while" , it reflects that an ordinary Afghans would show no respect for ANA, when the national army's soldiers abduct children from villages for sexual abuse and keep them in their bases. What's more disappointing is that the senior Afghan officer is defending this sick attitude of ANA soldiers. And this is only the tip of an ice berg which was revealed in that particular documentary, most of it goes undocumented.

Why do you think Afghan Taliban control the momentum on the battlefield as we speak, How on earth did they manage to take over Kunduz last year , which is close to the border of Tajkistan. As we speak Kunduz's Khanabad district has falllen to the Talibs once again this week. This seesaw will continue unless Kabul regime talks with the Talibs. Had ANA recruited more Pushtuns in its ranks, been more professional, the people of rural areas would have supported them, but again when an Uzbek warlord Dostum guilty of war crimes , who also openly threatens Puhstun villagers of rape and pillage is the Vice President of a country, one can't expect peace to return !!!
Here is the documentary trailer , which shows what I talked about.

I'm enjoying your passive aggressive attitude here. You try to hard not to show hatred by spewing outright racist statements. So you cheekly insert one or two lines to provoke everyone out there. Thereby ignoring the exact same things you are doing in your own Hell hole of a country. Lets start with some of the gems from your own country

US funds madrassas in Afghanistan
By Jon Boone in Khost

The US military is funding the construction of Islamic schools, or madrassas, in the east of Afghanistan in an attempt to stem the tide of young people going to radical religious schools in Pakistan.

Such schools spawned the Taliban movement, which harboured Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader behind the September 11 terror attacks on the US, before it was swept from power in 2001

US reconstruction cash has helped establish two state-run madrassas in the province of Khost, and a third is on its way.

The initiative shows how much leeway US commanders have been given to implement counter-insurgency strategies that focus on development and education.

In parts of eastern Afghanistan, US soldiers distribute copies of the Koran and “mosque refurbishment kits” that include sound systems powered by solar panels and prayer rugs.

John Kael Weston, the state department’s political representative in the Khost reconstruction team, holds weekly meetings with madrassa students.

“Just look at it from their perspective – if we just talk about girls’ education, for example, it just plays into the propaganda about the US. They think that the Americans will be opening up strip joints and restaurants selling alcohol on every corner.”

Your second statmenet FATA people being used as Foot soldiers for Punjab? Are you that ignorant or is it Anti Pakistani mood you are in today ? Because from what I'm seeing, Non Afghani Leaders of Afghanistan are hiring pashtoon soldiers and killing them in hordes in Helmand and Pashtoon majority areas of Afghanistan.

We have six universities in QS top 700 university rankings. Thats more than any muslim majority country. What on earth are you even talking about:lol:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/957651/heres-how-6-pakistani-universities-ranked-worldwide/

1500 scholorships for afghan students was announced by LUMS alone last year.

We dont blame you. Afghanistan hardly matters for us. We dont burn your flags , we dont put out rallies against you , neither is afghanistan worth mentioning on media apart from Bomb blasts. On the other hand your side is obsessed with Pakistan. Its a one way traffic when it comes to giving importance and relevance. Afghanistan will remain relevant to the world as far as it keeps on mentioning Pak-afg in the same sentence

We are also doing this but no body discuss this.
Surely we have issues with the guy called Hussain Haqqani. You are doing the same mistake looking pakistan through the glasses of Trekh Fateh and Hussain Haqqani type.
No doubt FATA is neglected and we are now taking steps to make into streamline by merging it with KPK. Further the same foot soldier of punjab (every aghani called Pakistan, punjab so i am not amazed) defeated the Daoud khan incursion in Bajur insurgency and choose to live with so called Pakistan not with Afghanistan.
To add it last they are not the foot soldier ,again achakzai mind speaking .All these people (Hussain Haqqani, Tarek Fateh, Achakzai)have no values in eyes of Pakistani people.
I am sure Afghanistan has not neglected his own people.
These blame game will never help to resolve any issue between the two nations.

you need to realize history does not starts from 2001
Afghans were still anti-pakistanis in 1947
Pakistan's participation in Afghanistan was at its peak during Afghan war
after that only handling was done
no everything on the wishlist has not been done

I never said I am neutral, everyone has their own biases but I believe I have some level of objectivity in my posts and definlty keep it respectful.

Anyways here is one from your post, we disagree but must always keep it civil.

Don't you agree ?

1500 scholorships for afghan students was announced by LUMS alone last year.

let's talk numbers here then, can you show me one authentic source where LUMS provided 1500 scholarships to Afghans?

I will be happy to correct my figures then :)

Well your understanding of Afghan situation resembles someone from grade 9.

One liner

Pakistan wants Afghanistan peaceful and prosperous being led by its largest community Pakthuns democratically with support of other minorities and most importantly to root out Indian influence whose only aim is to keep Afghanistan in controlled chaos so that American troops remain there and India keeps on supporting terrorism in Pakistan through paid afghan moles in TTP and NDS.
