Afghan wants 150 Battle tanks and 1 Squadron of Attack choppers from India

Waisee curiously enough why is that everything of or relating to Afghanistan starts & ends with the Taliban as if one day in the '90s a Pakistani General woke up & had an epiphany of supporting the Taliban ?

Ai'nt it simple . Because , Armstrong nobody here , talking as if they are sitting in Kabul right at the moment , haven't ever read its history not even a crash course , my friend . That is why you are seeing just the same " Pakistan created Taliban " being phrased , rephrased and then rephrased and the cycle continues ... Those who may have read it will not bother to rectify because you have to prove that Islamabad was/is the bad guy , so you cant really start the history from '47 , it has to start from the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan . Capiche ?

T-72 and Hinds quite easily in the face of their T-90 and Apache acquisitions. But the question remains, can they deal with the bad press when the equipment will be used by one warlord to massacre the populace of the other? And how will India deal with Iran's concerns on the matter as they are regional stake holders on solid terms with India.
And there in lies the rub. For as much optimism as departing ISAF nations/forces as well as Kabul and New Delhi, want to express over Afghanistan post-2014. There is a very credible chance that the govt will fall and then what? What happens to all that hardware India has given to them? If I was in the Govt of India I'd be very conflicted about this. On one hand I'd want to help the Afghan military to try and oppose those Taliban animals but on the other I'd be aware that these very same weapons could do more harm than good in the long-run.

It's simply a question of time and not having enough of it. If ISAF were pulling out in 2016/17 then I'm sure India would feel more comfortable in gifting such assets to them as the Indian side would have more time to train the Afghans on how to use the systems as well as the entire Afghan military havig that much longer to train and develop.

I'm asking an open question, not making a case for transferring heavy equipment, but why should we care if pakistan decides to be b*tthurt if we transfer heavy equipment to Afghanistan, a sovereign nation?

Well , though your question is really interesting since it somehow points that New Delhi does care about Pakistan's interest but let me answer that . The answer to your question lies in your own country's opposition to every arms deal to Islamabad , by any side and of any scale . Oh , even if that is from Beijing . So , do me a favor , catch the next flight to Indira Gandhi Intl Airport and find it out from the Foreign Office or if you have to , from 7 , Race Course Road so we can all be enlightened ! :D

Afghanistan sends officials to Pakistan for 'peace talks'

Afghan officials in Pakistan for Taliban peace talks: sources| Reuters

All on the SAME DAY :D - looks like our Afghan brothers are providing free hash to their policy makers these days. You can't just go to our enemy, seeking weapons while coming to us to seek peace.

As they say in Urdu - 'Parathay or woh bhi do, do'.

What an epic failure of common sense ~

BTW isn't our good old homie A.R Dostam ANA's 'Joint Chiefs of Staff' these days ;)

And then some have the nerve to say that the current set up is representative of all Afghans.

People of Afghanistan haven't forgotten the massacre of POWs at Qila Jangi.Which was carried out by no other than the N.Alliance {Renamed ANA} and their American allies.

Doesn't Pakistan buy heavy war machines from other countries and even sell nuclear technology to other countries without so much as publishing a white paper on it?

So the point I'm making is that our decision should be based on our own interests, NOT what an unreasonable junta ruled state like pakistan thinks.

What are you talking about, in fact i as a Pakistani fully support this decision.

But in my opinion the quantity of hardware is not enough. India should donate 1000 Arjuns, 300 attack helicopters, 400 utility helicopters, 300 SU30MKI's and 500 LCA Tejas. Along with that, India should donate $100 billion to uplift Afghan economy. It should bring 4 million Afghans living inside Pakistan to India. An unreasonable Junta in Pakistan cannot be trusted with innocent Afghans. India should fully take responsibility of the Afghans.

I sometimes laugh at Afghan people brain...they are so dumb that they dont realize indian game, they think indians doing them favor is out of love.

Afghanistan as India's neighbour and a country trying to build itself from the ravishes of war should be helped. A stable country in India's neighborhood is most welcomed.Afghans are used to Soviet equipments-therefore the transfer of Soviet equipment from India should be welcomed.
