PESHAWAR: In a surprising move Chinese officials have met with Afghan Taliban Officials in Beijing for the negotiations.

China had earlier announced to resolve the Afghanistan issue by facilitating the negotiations between the incumbent Afghan Government and the Taliban.

Why China is interested in Afghanistan Peace process while it is announced and open policy of China of not interfering in the internal affairs of the sovereign countries.

However this special initiative is a departure from the stated Chinese foreign policy.

Analysts believe the motive behind this fresh move is to have peace in Afghanistan from where China rightly considers that East Turkeministan Islamic Movement ( ETIM ) which is causing terrorism in China is operating from the Afghanistan soil. Such a move can tighten the noose around the ETIM and China expects peace in its restive Xinkiang province.

Apart from that China is working upon the One Belt One Road (OBOR) flagship initiative and a portion of it will be running through and along with Afghanistan and peace in Afghanistan is pre requisite for this phase of OBOR.

China considers that peace in Afghanistan is must for the Chinese national security point of view due above mentioned factors.

The other reason could be Pakistani interference. Afghanistan government has an element of mistrust against Pakistan and the Pakistani efforts to bring peace in Afghanistan while acting as mediator between Afghanistan Government and Afghan Taliban could not succeed due to the element of mistrust, however no such mistrust exists between Chinese and Afghanistan government.

On the invitation of Chinese officials delegation from the Taliban visited China earlier this month to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, where the insurgent movement is fighting the Western-backed government in Kabul, sources in the Taliban said.

A delegation led by Abbas Stanakzai, head of the Taliban´s political office in Qatar, visited Beijing on July 18-22 at the invitation of the Chinese government, a senior member of the Taliban said.

“We have good terms with different countries of the world and China is one among them,” said the Taliban official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“We informed Chinese officials about the occupation by invading forces and their atrocities on Afghan people,” he said.

“We wanted the Chinese leadership to help us raise these issues on world forums and help us get freedom from occupying forces.”

The visit was confirmed by other senior Taliban figures who did not want to be named because they were not authorized to speak on behalf of the Qatar political office.

The Chinese foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Along with Pakistan, the United States and Afghanistan itself, China is a member of the four-country group that tried to restart peace talks with the Taliban earlier this year.

That effort never got beyond exploratory talks between the countries themselves and appeared to break down definitively when former Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Akhtar Mansour was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan in May.

However in public statements, the Taliban have said that they wish to have good relations with Afghanistan´s neighbours, many of which are concerned at the threat of local Islamist or separatist militant movements.

China has long been concerned that instability in Afghanistan will spill over into the violence-prone far western Chinese region of Xinjiang, where hundreds have died in recent years in unrest blamed by Beijing on Islamist extremists.

. .
The Chinese have been playing war and diplomacy for more tha 2 millennia they are not strangers or lack understanding of such affairs thus they may be able to resolute something that not even the west can bring forth to the planning table. Just a thought!

Another thing a FOREIGN backed principality in Kabul whose strings are pulled by the highest bidder. who offers their shoulder for aim. whos land is used for nurturing proxies and launching war into neighboring countries expects to be treated with dignity. Well good luck!

.
Somewhat pointless, but maybe they can succeed where the rest of us failed.

. .
The effort might get peace process with ETIM but not with the Afghan internal problems with Nato.. US needs to build self determination to leave Afghanistan

All this activity comes after China's military louded AF efforts to root out Chinese foes, so GHQ has realized that it's losing the only viable friend in the region vis-a-vis her policy towards Afghanistan.
GHQ is fast losing situation, with its proxies not able to make any inroads in their Burka Offensive and and also risk losing the one true friend.

Makes you think?

/Peace :)

But I dont see any condemnation in your post for china meeting with Burka terrorists ? Or you too differentiating TTP into Good/Bad Burkas ?

.
Good for Afghanistan, let the chinese invest some political capital then see what happens, good terrorists have to become bad terrorists or chinese will learn a lesson hard way, either way good for Afg.

hahahah :) fair point, I don't have to because the AF foreign office has already taken a strong exception to this visit with the chinese officials.

@A-Team
How come in every single post of yours somehow end up mentioning ghq ?

Yes GhQ had part in it so did the cia , ksa
And the biggest of aghan themselves pointing fingers will get you no where
, Afghan is at the brink of new start or at the end.
Now Afgan and Pakistan can try to salvage there relation and need too see bigger picture
If pakistan and afg have a healthy relation it will benefit afgs more than it does to Pakistan

Pakistan cant fight afg fights , afghan people need to stand up for themselves, being a land locked country it just worsen your ods and if you see current situation the attitude of its are more like they want war with pakistan
And it will millions of Afghan living in Pakistan
And just by simply stating Pakistan should send them back it will hurt afg more , afg wont be able take 3 million people is not so easily

O dear O dear ;), all I can say switch your loyalties before its too late . you guys are known for it, there is no shame in it.
It is quite apparent what was discussed. Looking at bigger picture, it will be futile to keep on parroting the same old non sense against Pakistani deep state. Its self defeating and suicidal. The narrative is quickly changing to fight against terrorism, human rights protection, women empowerment and what not, the other usual BS, to the forigen occupation of Afghanistan and if you are cleaver enough, you will understand what it means. At best stay neutral, because taking sides in this fight of giants, you lot will be squeezed. Whatever was discussed between Taliban and Chinese, needs to be looked into the global geopolitical chessboard. For your sake, I sincerely hope that things dont reach melting point in south China sea. Now if you have understood and disgusted this, read the below in above context.

“We have good terms with different countries of the world and China is one among them,” said the Taliban official

that's a pretty simplistic and intellectually statement, but not surprising...if GHQ is "losing the situation" then why is the security situation in Pakistan much better than it was under previous govt? Further, what are your views on the Durand Line? Make a fuss over that, we will do the needful

But I dont see any condemnation in your post for china meeting with Burka terrorists ? Or you too differentiating TTP into Good/Bad Burkas ?

We need to bomb wherever Fazlullah is hiding
