The Afghan Taliban have integrated sniper teams into their new units in southern Helmand Province, a local resident recently told IHS Jane's on condition of anonymity.

Called qet'a, the units consist of up to 220 fighters, who are divided into subgroups of 20 men and resemble more conventional military units than loosely organised insurgent fronts (mahaz), a local analyst noted.

Up to six fighters in each subgroup use designated marksman rifles and operate separately in small sniper teams during an attack, usually eliminating Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) in guard towers from distances of up to 600 m, according to the local source.

Will this make any strategic difference? No! They are being massacred by the Afghan special forces who arrived today from Kandahar as we speak.

These foreign backed proxies, whose Burka offensive has been nothing but an utter failure have resorted to killing civilians riding in buses! Thought their current leader was Mullah, how can he justify the murder of civilians in cold blood.

Release of this video, ground commanders endorsing their new leader (who is visible first time in history) and now the news that they are restructuring themselves based on a professional tactical military unit (Riflemen and Snipers) mean there is something cooking behind the scenes. I wouldn't doubt if they starting to get some serious professional help now. Sealing of borders, Getting caught of RAW commander and dozens of NDS agents in last few months. It seems like Pakistan is gearing up for post US Afghanistan. especially since some in Afghans intelligence don't want negotiation to take place and try to derail it one way or another.

The ground realities are very stark . have a look at what your own media is saying . Only lashkargah is out of taliban's hand . According to your analyst 85 % of helmand is under taliban .

Really. For GOD sake living in dreams every second day 50 to 100 Afghan National Army soldiers and Police Man are dying on the hands of Afghan Taliban. Time is running out for talks and if talks don't start soon than civil war would continue for decades and decades to come.

someone trying hard to close the cross border insurgency for years now but to no avail?
Reason being the hue and cry made by Afghan authorities?
You, the Afghans need to understand one thing, you people are being played with, just like it was in the past. I seriously hope that the SAME ghost of civil unrest do not comes back to haunt you, we want a peaceful Afghan so that the millions residing in our country can go back to release some pressure on us and to solve dozens of our problems.

These blame games and chest thumping is not going to help anyone. What is required is a positive peace dialogue between all involved Afghan parties to settle this issue. Unfortunately you people are fast losing the chances of conducting that and that means serious troubles for us as well.

We have been losing that many on average for the last 15 years and will continue to do so, fighting regional proxies require sacrifice.

Thank you for wishing peaceful Afghanistan, but wishes mean little when the policies of regional countries have been to undermine Afghanistan. Only solution I see Afghanistan have a strong state and security institutions and also neighbours not playing zero sum games.

They will, as long as their own interests and even security situation is not threatened. It is a two way street. All parties involved FAIL to understand this basic concept, ALL of them.

NATO is not going to leave anytime soon. She is there to spread destabilisation and covertly support Khawarij groups in the region. And elements of the Kabul government are compliant in this.

Brother the solution of Afghan problem is not n the hands of Afghan peoples unfortunately they don't understand the proxies of other countries Pakistan and Iran both countries are your neibours and can help a lot to Afghanistan but unfortunately Afghanistan government gave a big role to India in their country who not have any border with Afghanistan and India starts their proxy against Pakistan through Afghan soils and use Afghan nds for their dirty game as results Pakistan and Afghanistan who were have brotherly relations lost their trust on each other and became enemies if Afghanistan and Pakistan want to peace in that region they should understand the proxies of other countries

Khawarij groups
I just stick to calling them terrorist. Most of these mulla that are giving out wholesale Khawarij certificated are themselves no less than dajjal. They have their families living in US or Canada, rest are on direct payroll of USAID.

I understand but I wish to raise the awareness of the khawarij phenomenon to Muslims. Many young ignorant Muslims, if they knew this would not be so susceptible to their propaganda.
