Afghan kid gets new lease of life after 2.5kg brain tumour removed in Pakistan

July 14, 2019

ABBOTTABAD:

A seven-year-old child, hailing from Afghanistan’s Helmand province, has been given a second chance at life after a 2.5 kilogramme tumour was removed from his brain in a highly complicated surgery at a private hospital in the city.

Dr Abdul Aziz, a renowned Pakistani neurosurgeon pulled off the miraculous medical procedure, which had been termed as ‘extremely complicated’ by the Indian and Turkish experts earlier.

Speaking to The Express Tribune on Sunday, Dr Aziz said the brain tumour weighed two and a half kilos and had already damaged an eye and an ear of the patient. He said the child was being given further medical aid following the surgery and his condition was improving gradually.

“Experts [from India and Turkey] had declared this surgery extremely difficult and complicated, but we proved that it was possible,” said Dr Aziz.

Earlier this year, the National Institute for Child Health (NICH) managed to save the life of an infant girl born with a damaged liver in the first surgery of its kind in Pakistan.

The three-year-old child suffered incessant stomach aches and jaundice since birth. The infant was administered anaesthesia and in an operation that lasted around six hours, the doctors dissected the infant’s intestine and fashioned a tube out of it.

They then removed the damaged bile duct and transplanted the tube in its place.

The infant girl, whose family resides in Karachi’s Kati Pahari area, is now fully recovered and has started eating and drinking as well.

Good job by Pakistani doctors. It is very difficult to operate the brain and even more complicated if it is a fragile kid...so 100/100 marks to them. Well done!!!

Let's see what PTM and NDS have to say about it.

PTM and NDS consist of filthy, shameless, and dishonourable creatures.
Well, their days are numbered..they outlived their utility for their master... no new master in sight for centuries. They first invited Soviet and then sucked up to USA. But the brave Afghans have defeated them and now this filth along with her master will be removed.

They will say isi installed a chip. But who cares. All that matters is smile and happiness and joy for boys parents.

That is what we are, helping world with whatever capacity we have for centuries and millenia.

Should have gone to India for surgery. I am sure Modi would have removed the tumor himself.

Real afghans are our brothers but soldout ones are playing in hands of india and will be disposed off by india after their objectives are achieved so it is better for afghans to be in good relation with Pakistan aa their future is more dependent on Pakistan than india .
