Afghan Intelligence Chief Rahmatullah Nabil Resigns

The head of the Afghan intelligence serves the President and not vice versa, his job is in the security sector and not formulating foreign policy. He didn't share the same mindset towards some aspects of the road ahead as the President and thus offered his resignation and was accepted.

End of story!

The fundamental point here is to continue the momentum towards normalizing the relationship between the neighbours and bringing peace to the region.

@A-Team I think this is an excellent statement to be issued by the spokesman of the President (Ghani sab) of Afghanistan -- I was asking for your opinion and your summary of the Afghan opinion on the street (significant strains that agree and disagree with you).

Thanks.

One of the biggest roadblocks between Afghan-Pak relations is this mindset among the Afghan leadership that Pakistan is run by these inferior Punjabi subhumans who are nothing compared to the mighty Pashtun/Afghan people.

Agreed its a sane decision, democratic system at work. Elected representative wields the power.

He was playing in RAW hands. Peace of Afghanistan can only come through talks with Taliban. so better if talks start soon and peace is restored in Afghanistan.

Strategic depth in Afghanistan bearing fruit
It is strategic ditch, either taliban will be overrun by the ISIS then or they will put a united front with them.
Be careful what you wish for.

The thick skulled short sighted ISI played favorite and cut off supplies to most successful Afghan Mujahid Ahmad Shah Massoud who was independent minded leader among Afghan Mujahideens. ISI preferred to supply to weak minded and gullible Mujahideen who will follow their dictates. These idiots in ISI later supported Talibans for the same reasons and Pakistanis and Afghans are still paying for their stupid decisions even today. ISI prefers idiots over smart and competent people !!

He was playing in RAW hands

The seeds of hatred were sown long time ago when ISI cut off Massoud and later he was assassinated by Taliban supporters the Al-Qaeeda.

Thats how management works. every pakistan army chief was selected in the same way, to be submissive to the PM but over period of time they end up overrunning the civilian govt. Problem is intelligent ppl are competent to work on problems and keep them occupied. Incompetents only eye the authority as they cannot do anything else they constantly spend time looking for how to move up.

Good to see in Afghanistan the spymasters report to the elected representatives. Unfortunately it is going to take two to tango.

Yes I am sure they sent one memo to you every time they took a decision regarding Afganistan.

If they would have sent me memo then things would have been peaceful and normal for last 30 years.
