Afghan defense minister, Bismillah Mohammadi said Saturday that the Afghan forces are ready to retaliate to Pakistani military cross-border incursion.
Mohammadi told Afghan lawmakers that President Hamid Karzai has instructed him to put Afghan forces on alert for retaliation to the cross-border shelling by Pakistani military.
He said the instruction was given after President Karzai discussed the issue with the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Mohammadi also added that he has spoken with the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff regarding the continued cross-border shelling and warned him that the shelling could harm the relations between the two nations.
This comes as local officials in eastern Kunar province said around 1000 rockets were fired by Pakistani military during the past five days in Dangam and Shegal districts.
However, the Pakistani officials are saying that the artillery shells are sometimes landing in eastern provinces of Afghanistan, while they are fighting the Taliban militants.
In the meantime, the Pakistani gunship helicopters attacked Dangam district early Saturday morning.
Provincial governor, Shuja-ul-Mulk Jalala said at least four people were killed and around eleven others were injured following the airstrike.
