I dunno why anyone bothers; we've invested billions in Afghanistan....billions in humanitarian aid and hosted millions of them for 3 decades - Afghanistan is a sunk cost.

Leave them be....let them fight each other like ravaged dogs before some sense is knocked into them that one does not covet they neighbor's land ('48 till present) nor let every tom, dick and harry within or without the region to use your land as a launching pad against your neighbor (the '90s) without consequences !

Nah its even before that; this whole thing started during the waning years of Bhutto and Naseerullah Babur 'cause Daud Khan just wouldn't shut-up about the Loy or Greater Afghanistan thing that evidently extended all the way up to Jhelum.

Then we all know about the Bajaur Invasion of the '50s and that every single Baluch Separatist Insurgency has found sanctuary in Afghanistan and much more that happened long before anyone strung together the words 'Strategic Depth' !

Our actions were a reaction to the actions of the Afghans and a lot of people within and without the region; naturally short-sighted as we are, things didn't go exactly as planned. But then again I'm saying this with the benefit of hindsight.

Imagine what a 'whos who' of Pakistan be thinking in the '80s that you've got Babrak speaking about Greater Afghanistan with the Soviets right their on our foot steps, with India's Non-Aligned-Movement (Position) being a farce for all intents and purposes, '71 being just around the corner and the previous Commie vs Yank confrontations resulting in Vietnam and Korea.

That unfortunate ignorance of the history of the land.. which includes the writings of both Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and so on is the reason there is a struggle for identity and more importantly political understanding of the underlying issues(which still have not changed much) within the region.

What support are you talking about? I and the Whole of India supports Afghanistan which you refer to as "others" and its development process, irrespective of whether I am Muslim or not.

I cant help it if the only version of true Islam you think is true is the extreme Taliban version. In India, I have full freedom to call myself a Muslim regardless of whether i practice or not or pick and choose what parts of Islam i want to believe in and what parts of Islam i choose to reject.

A muslim is always a human first. Learn to understand Islam objectively rather than literally. How does me being a practising or non-practising Muslim concern you ?
Me and 180 million other Muslims from my country have full rights to practice Islam in whatever ways they wish to without infringing upon the rights of others. I come from a respectable Muslim family and you are no-one to question my faith.
